iStockSwift crisis response and instant support by the UAE airport
In an elaborate LinkedIn post, Tushar Gagerna documented how his emotionally taxing situation at the Dubai airport turned into a story of warmth, generosity, hospitality and simple human kindness. As per the write-up, the professional was supposed to catch a 1 PM flight to Delhi, but after hours of waiting inside the aircraft, passengers were asked to disembark around 3 PM following reports of escalating tensions in the UAE. What followed was news alerts flashing across phone screens, conversations becoming hushed, and uncertainty filling the cabin as air travelers got a hold of the unfolding. However, Tushar Gagernawas left impressed by how the airport authorities handled the situation swiftly and calmly. Within a short period, a dedicated waiting area was arranged for the passengers including refreshments like water and food. What stood out the most was the immediate issue of emergency visas on the spot for transit passengers and tourists.
Calm leadership and empathy turn travel disruption into pride
As per the growth strategist, those without accommodation or prior plans to stay were legally documented, safe and supported during an unpredictable moment. Tushar Gagerna pointed out that while geopolitical tensions are likely to throw us off guard, the response he witnessed at the airport showed nothing but pure efficiency and composure. Rather than confusion and panic, what he observed was structured coordination, clear communication and preparedness.
In light of the current situation, Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi) issued a directive on February 28 offering relief to affected travellers. As per the notice, hotels across the emirate were asked to accommodate guests unable to depart due to travel restrictions, with authorities confirming that the government would absorb the extra lodging expenses. The department added that stranded visitors would not be charged for the extended stay, nor would hospitality establishments be required to shoulder the additional costs.
