The General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority - GCGRA has a new CEO Ciarán Carruthers joins today, replacing the UAE regulator’s first CEO Kevin Mullally, who stepped down in November 2025. He has more than 40 years’ industry experience, most recently with Crown Resorts where he shepherded the business through a major remediation process. Carruthers previously held roles with the likes of Galaxy, Wynn Resorts ans Las Vegas Sands. “The future of gaming regulation in the UAE is in exceptional hands,” GCGRA chair Jim Murren commented. "From control to intelligent protection: neuroscience applied to problem gambling" will explore why neuroscience matters for responsible gambling, what it really adds beyond existing tools, and how research can better inform policy, regulation and design. This session brings together academic perspectives from Lucio Lamberti POLIMI Graduate School of Management and Jaime Guixeres Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), alongside industry and RG experts Charmaine Hogan and Pieter Remmers, as part of an ICE Research Institute–funded project — but the focus is not on finished findings.
