Over the last 8 months at Skill Maestro - India , some lessons I'm still learning and some I've learned that growth isn't always about reaching the destination—it's about appreciating who you're becoming along the way. We're often taught to celebrate achievements and finished results, and yes, results do matter. But your value isn't tied only to how perfect your end result looks; it's rooted in your willingness to keep showing up, learning, adapting, and moving forward while you're still evolving. This post highlights some remarkable individuals I’ve had the privilege of working with. Their mentorship, support, and confidence in me have been instrumental in my growth, and many of the lessons I carry today are a reflection of their influence. Sandeep Panjwani reposted thisSandeep Panjwani reposted this“बड़े सपने नहीं देखोगे… तो आगे कैसे बढ़ोगे?” This week, one of my students, Abbas Sanawedwala, visited our office during his break from the US, and conversations like these remind me why I entered this field years ago. Abbas came from a Bachelor in Pharmacy background and went to Rowan University USA for his Master’s. But somewhere along the journey, simple classroom learning turned into deep research curiosity. Today, he is pursuing PhD level research at the intersection of: • Healthcare • AI & Machine Learning • Diagnostics • And even emerging areas like Quantum Computing in healthcare research. What amazed me most was this: He did not come from a coding or computer science background. Yet, driven purely by curiosity and passion for research, he learnt AI and Machine Learning from scratch to work on highly advanced healthcare problems involving disease diagnosis and predictive healthcare systems. Just pause and think about how powerful that is. A Pharmacy student from India entering a world where researchers are exploring how Quantum Computing and AI can someday help in: • Earlier disease detection • Faster body diagnostics • Molecular simulations • Precision medicine • Personalized treatment systems This also says a lot about the flexibility of US universities. Many students in India think that once you choose one field, your path is fixed forever. But universities abroad often encourage students to explore across disciplines. A student from Pharmacy can collaborate with: • AI researchers • Data scientists • Biomedical engineers • Computational biology teams • Quantum research groups And sometimes that freedom changes everything. Healthcare today is no longer limited to medicines and laboratories alone. The future of healthcare is being shaped at the intersection of: • Pharma • Artificial Intelligence • Machine Learning • Computational Biology • Quantum Computing And students who are willing to learn beyond their comfort zone will lead that future. A big message especially for Pharmacy and Life Science students in India: Please don’t limit your vision only to the “usual” career routes around you. There is an entire world of research, innovation, interdisciplinary work, and cutting edge healthcare technology waiting outside India. Sometimes one decision to step outside your comfort zone changes the trajectory of your life completely. Proud of you, Abbas. Wishing you even bigger breakthroughs ahead. #StudyAbroad #PharmacyStudents #PhD #ResearchLife #GrowthMindset #TheUnfilteredMentor #SkillMaestro #USUniversities #IndianStudentsAbroad

Sandeep Panjwani shared thisWhile working as a quant analyst in commodity derivatives in New York City, life looked perfect on paper -- great pay, great city, great title. Yet, something inside me felt flat. The work was predictable, the rhythm monotonous, and I realised I wasn’t feeling alive anymore. So, I did what most people would call crazy — I packed up and came back to India. And from a small corner in Indore, I began Skill Maestro - India with Pankaj Singh Parihar, bootstrapping it from scratch. Those early days were filled with uncertainty, chaos, and constant learning. There were no playbooks, no guarantees — just instinct, effort, and endless pivots. But for the first time in years, I felt alive. Thirteen years later, I can say this — no Ivy League degree or Wall Street job could’ve taught me what entrepreneurship did. It reshaped me as a person, taught me resilience, humility, patience, and how to find calm in chaos. Most people think that being a founder is about vision, grit, or passion. Truth is that it’s about learning to make peace with discomfort. It’s about making decisions that cost something real, being misunderstood by many, failing in public, yet showing up again and again. You don’t become braver — you just stop waiting for clarity. You build scar tissue, you lose illusions, and somewhere along the way, you find yourself. And that, to me, is the real reward — not the revenue charts or milestones — but the transformation within. Because while building Skill Maestro, I wasn’t just building an organization. I was building myself !! Picture Attached (using AI)

Sandeep Panjwani liked thisLast week, my co-founder, Piyush Peshwani shared the launch of Veriffy - our D2C platform bringing background verification to India's households. But verification is just the front door. The real mission: India's domestic workers i.e. drivers, cooks, nannies, caregivers, and shop staff, are one of our largest, most unorganized, and most financially vulnerable workforces. Tens of millions of people are largely invisible to the formal financial system. We're building Veriffy into the platform that changes that: trust first, then assisted access to health insurance, fixed deposits, and SIP/mutual fund investments. Financial inclusion and financial empowerment go hand in hand. Now we're looking for the people to build it with us. I would love to hear from impact-driven PMs and APMs who: → Want their work to matter for millions, not just move a metric → Can navigate ambiguity and build for users who've never been served by fintech before → Are excited by the messy intersection of trust, financial inclusion, and real-world impact If that's you or someone you rate, please write to me at Vineet@ongrid.in with your thoughts and why this excites you. #ProductManagement #Fintech #FinancialInclusion #Hiring #ImpactJobsSandeep Panjwani liked thisGlad to share that we've launched Veriffy (veriffy.in), our D2C platform for background verification. We envision Veriffy evolving into a platform that also enables domestic workers (in an assisted manner) to access essential financial and social security products, including: 1. Health insurance 2. Fixed Deposits (FDs) 3. SIP and mutual fund investments Domestic workers form one of India's largest, most unorganized, and most financially vulnerable workforces. I want to be the rich husband 💰 I started working at the age of 17 Making only ₹8,000 a month as a Social Media Management Intern 📱 At 18, I moved to a new company as a Social Media Manager. Bigger responsibilities, bigger goals, and another step closer to the career I wanted. 🚀 At 19, I switched jobs one last time. That's when I realized I'd rather build something of my own than spend my life building it for someone else. 💻 So I took the leap into freelancing. No guarantees. No fixed salary. Just a laptop, a WiFi connection, and a lot of ambition. Now 22, Three years into freelancing, working with amazing clients from all over the world and doing what I genuinely love. 🌍✨ Looking back, that ₹8,000 salary was never "just" ₹8,000. It was the beginning of everything. I don't care what anyone says—hard work will always open doors that excuses never will. And trust me... I'm only getting started 🚀

Sandeep Panjwani liked thisSandeep Panjwani liked thisWe gave a The White Teak Company's website the one thing chatbots never had: taste. Working closely with Abraham Sakkappan Puthumana, Aminul Islam and the team at White Teak, we built an experience that goes beyond traditional product discovery. A customer uploads a photo of their living room. The agent reads the palette (warm, golden, layered) and recommends chandeliers that actually belong in that space. Then it helps them book a visit in person. Built on TechMonk's Agent Builder for a premium lighting brand: → Product discovery in natural language → Dynamic filtering by budget and colour, mid-conversation → Visual search grounded in the customer's own space → Seamless handover from browsing to offline footfall The interesting engineering problem wasn't the chat. It was making one agentic layer serve web, WhatsApp, and support, with context that survives a human handover. Retail AI shouldn't end at "how can I help you?" It should end at a decision. #AIAgents #AgenticAI #ConversationalAI #RetailTech #LLM #GenAI #ConversationalCommerce #BuildInPublic

RBI has made its stance clear: if a financial product is unsuitable for a customer’s profile, it will be treated as mis-selling. Even explicit customer consent will not protect the bank. If mis-selling is established, the bank must refund the full amount. This materially raises the bar for suitability. Key implications: 1. Documentation will not be enough - A signed form or recorded consent does not override product–client mismatch. Suitability must be demonstrable. 2. Risk profiling quality becomes critical - Superficial questionnaires or templated profiling will not hold up if challenged. Age, income, financial literacy, risk tolerance, time horizon, product complexity, and fee structures must align. 3. Incentive structures are now a liability vector - If sales targets drive distribution of complex or high-fee products to unsuitable clients, that exposure sits with the institution. 4. Digital interfaces are under scrutiny - Dark patterns, bundled add-ons, subscription traps, or misleading urgency cues can fall under unfair practices. For investors, this strengthens protection. For institutions and distributors, it shifts responsibility from disclosure-driven compliance to suitability-driven accountability. Going forward, the question before every recommendation is simple: Can we defend this product as appropriate for this specific client, based on documented evidence? If not, the legal and financial consequences are now explicit. That is a meaningful regulatory shift.

Most credit in India is mispriced because it’s frozen in time. A credit limit is usually: • Set once at onboarding • Based on bureau score + income snapshot • Reviewed annually (if at all) But borrowers don’t live static lives. The data tells the real story: • 10B+ UPI transactions/month reflect real-time spending behavior • 50%+ of Indian earners have variable income (gig, MSME, informal) • Financial stress shows up 30-45 days before EMI default in cashflows, not credit scores Static limits create real costs: • Over-crediting during income dips → higher NPAs • Under-crediting during income spikes → lost LTV • Reactive collections → 3-5x higher recovery costs AI enables a better model: perpetual underwriting. • Limits adjust dynamically with live cashflows • Risk pricing updates continuously • Early, empathetic interventions replace post-bounce collections In a high-frequency payments economy, static credit isn’t conservative it’s outdated. The future of lending isn’t about approving more loans. It’s about adapting credit in real time without breaking trust. If cashflows are real-time, why are credit limits still annual? #FinTech #CreditTech #AIinFinance #RiskManagement #Lending #FintechInfrastructure #CapitalEfficiency

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐲𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐑𝐮𝐧 𝐎𝐮𝐭 Over the past week, India has seen two very different crises — one in fuel supply, one in equity markets - running the same behavioural script. When people believe supply will always be available, behaviour stretches: thinner buffers, larger positions, tighter inventories. When that belief breaks, the reaction swings violently - queues, hoarding, panic selling. You can see this playing out right now in two places. 𝐎𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥-𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞: 𝑳𝑷𝑮 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒖𝒆𝒍. Commercial gas supplies to restaurants have been sharply curtailed, kitchens are shutting or cutting menus, and in cities like Chennai, a significant share of autos are off the road as pumps run dry. Oil companies keep reiterating there is "enough fuel" — if only people wouldn't panic buy. The queues outside bunks are driven as much by fear as by the underlying shortage. 𝐎𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥-𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞: Equities. Since the Iran conflict escalated, the Nifty 50 has corrected sharply. On days like March 12, every NSE sectoral index was bleeding together. Classic "buy the dip until you run out of cash" behaviour giving way to forced selling and apathy. In both markets, the pattern is identical: 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝟏 - 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐥: LPG: "It's temporary, my next cylinder will come." Equities: "Healthy correction. I'll keep buying the dip." 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝟐 - 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜: LPG: One delayed cylinder, and suddenly kilometre-long queues, black-marketing, restaurants shutting pre-emptively. Equities: After days of every sector bleeding together, investors stop bottom-up analysis and just hit sell. 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝟑 - 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: LPG: People reconcile to simpler meals; restaurants shift to induction; demand normalises. Equities: Volumes dry up, prices find a clearing level, and genuine long-term capital finally returns. The common thread is not oil or earnings. It is the psychology of perceived scarcity. When we believe there will "always be another cylinder" or "always another dip to buy", we lever up - bigger positions, tighter inventory, thinner cash buffers. When that illusion breaks, we hoard cylinders or cash, amplifying the very shortage we feared. The only real edge - as investors and as citizens - is process. 1. Decide in advance how much buffer to hold in normal times. Then hold it. 2. Accept you will never catch the bottom - in cylinders or in stocks. 3. Resilience over precision. Approximately right beats precisely wiped out. The behavioural curve - fear, overreaction, mean reversion - rarely change. The irony is that history has run this movie, and the ending is always the same. Yet greed and fear have a remarkable ability to make us forget. We never quite believe, in the moment, that mean reversion will come. Until it does.

The physics of the grid is colliding with the metaphysics of the market. The central question for India’s power sector is no longer just how to generate clean electricity, but how quickly we can build the nervous system required to carry it. If the NEP 2026 can be tightened to prioritize grid agility, targeted state-level funding, and smart load management, India will not just survive the Age of Electricity—it will define it. >>I was asked to Chair the session entreat featured a talk by PROF K NARAYANAN, IIT MUMBAI who chose to speak about 'Creative Industries: Prospects for India'. Prof Narayanan approaches the creative economy not merely as an artistic or cultural sector, but as a formal, high-growth industrial segment with significant potential for employment generation and export diversification. >>He looks at the digital revolution (AI, IoT, Big Data, and Digital Mfg) as an enabler for the creative economy. He argues that India's creative economy, spanning animation, gaming, VFX, design, and digital content, is poised for rapid growth because it sits at the intersection of cultural capital and digital technologies. He states that unlike traditional manufacturing, the creative sector allows India ton leapfrog infrastructure deficits by leveraging widespread digital penetration. >>While India has a massive pool of skilled labour (artists, designers, technicians), much of it remains in the informal sector. His research suggests that, for the creative economy to realise its growth potential, there must be a structural shift towards formal contracts, social security, and IP ownership for creatives, all of which are today bottlenecks according to him. This means that the creative sector will actually help promote formalising employment, while also helping to absorb India's demographic surplus. >>Drawing from his extensive work on innovation and R&D, Prof Narayanan argues that the creative economy's growth prospects depend on how well Indian firms and individuals can protect and monetise IP. For India to move from being a 'service provider'(outsourcing VFX or animation work), the country needs a more robust culture of patenting, copyright registration, and technology licensing. >>I am persuaded that there is much of value in what Prof Narayanan has studied about the creative economy, with important implications for public policy. He also states that the creative economy is a high-value export sector. However, he states correctly that India needs to move from being a low cost and low-value added service provider for global studios. Indian creative enterprises must engage in co-production, co-ownership, and original content creation to capture a larger share of global rents. He critiques policy fragmentation that adversely affects the growth of the creative economy. >>I agree with him when he states that while we can be optimistic about the growth prospects of the creative economy in India, we need to address the triad of IPR formalisation, skill standardisation, and expansion of digital infrastructure. I agree that unless we bridge the gap between India's creative talent and formal industrial structures, the sector risks remaining a low-margin outsourcing hub rather than becoming a global creative powerhouse.
