That framing is wrong and it's an expensive mistake. 72% of global eCommerce now runs through marketplaces. Every payout carries risk. Pay the wrong seller and you may have helped defraud a buyer or move criminal money. One costs you chargebacks. The other can close down your business. Simon Hall shared thisThis week I finally had one of those "this is real now" moments with AI-assisted development. We needed tooling to handle DORA regulatory reporting — complex submission format, multiple interlinked files. A vendor quoted us €3k/year. Quite expensive for what it does, and we would also need time and resources for contracting, legal review, etc. I tried GitHub Copilot's new agentic CLI instead. Fed it out submission for last year, and asked it to create a web editor. It was working in 15 minutes and I genuinely prefer it over the commercial alternative we were evaluating. The thing that stuck with me isn't just the cost saving. It's how satisfying it is when you can capture real contrete value, beyond just a toy prototype. This is a real example of how we traded 3k/yr of software spend for a few EUR of AI tokens

Simon Hall liked thisSimon Hall liked thisPosting this feels a little uncomfortable. I'd rather stand next to the stage and talk substance than put myself in the spotlight like this. But I have room again for a new interim or fractional Commercial & Organisational Leadership role, and my excitement for a new, meaningful challenge outweighs that discomfort. And I know it helps if people know I'm available again. ;-) I have a lot of energy and drive to help a company and team through a growth or change phase, with all the challenges that come with it. Companies I work best with often have proven traction, but face a period of growth or change that isn't going as planned. Whether that's strategy that needs sharpening, ownership and collaboration that aren't clear enough, execution and structure that haven't kept pace, priorities multiplying faster than the organisation can absorb, or growth and ROI coming under pressure. That's exactly the kind of challenge I love getting stuck into. Stepping in as interim or fractional CRO/CMO, I create focus, clarity and alignment: sharpening strategy, building structure that speeds up rather than slows down, clarifying ownership and accountability, and strengthening collaboration. All of that to create sustainable impact and a more developed, aligned team, ready for whichever permanent leadership follows next. Simon Hall liked thisBack in 2023, when GPT-3.5 was released, we had this crazy idea that maybe, just maybe, we might be able to do some exciting things with code. I remember being so proud we had the model generate working, compiling code. We build one of the first terminal based coding agents around it. Wondering who needs that anyway, it looked really cool and had some early traction. Fast forward a couple of months, Claude and then Codex were released. Clearly, some people. Space became too hot, so we parked the project and continued on the vision. From our own experience, a large part of software engineering is spend on recurring maintenance- dependency upgrades, architectural restructuring, up to dreaded (I think it's fun, that's on me) legacy migrations. Building into that idea, we build a platform for structured, governed, and validated automation at scale. If we look beyond a prompt, from small local to foundational fable, what we need to really free up engineering time, is trust, validation, repeatability, and control. That's exactly what Bosun is bringing on the table, and a large part of that is more than a GenAI harness; enterprise-scale intelligence, proving that code before behaves the sames as code after, MicroVM code isolation, and the flexibility to operate fully sovereign. Since we went full time last year, we've built out a large platform that can automate *a lot* around the SDLC. And we dogfood like crazy. We have the foundational tools and concepts to migrate legacy at scale. Simon Hall liked thisToday we announced an agreement to acquire Payoneer for $2.75 billion. Two market leaders coming together. Nuvei has built one of the world's leading platforms for money in. Payoneer has built one of the world's leading platforms for money out — moving money, holding multi-currency balances, and paying out across borders. We do one half of the picture; they do the other. Together, we become world-leading infrastructure for domestic and cross-border commerce in just about every market. This is a combination of complementary capabilities, not a consolidation of overlapping ones. The result: a platform with the capabilities and reach to serve businesses operating locally, globally, and across borders — at scale. Congratulations to John Caplan, Bea Ordonez, and the entire Payoneer team. Payoneer has spent two decades building something remarkable, including regulatory positions in markets where licenses take years to earn. I have a lot of respect for what they have built, and am very much looking forward to the 2500+ Payoneer teammates joining Nuvei. Together, we are still on the ground floor with so much opportunity ahead. The combined business will support 2.4M customers and generate $3B in revenue, supported by a talented team of ~5000 employees. Simon Hall liked thisSimon Hall liked thisWe set out to build payments infrastructure in Europe the hard way: holding the licenses ourselves instead of renting someone else's. Today OpenFX has agreed to acquire Embed. The two things we're proudest of go with it: a Dutch PI regulated by DNB and a UK EMI regulated by the FCA, along with the team that built and ran them. Why OpenFX? The thesis we built Embed on, that you own the rails rather than rent them, is already how they operate. Our licenses and stack give them a regulated home in Europe's two largest jurisdictions. Their distribution gives the technology a scale we couldn't reach on our own. Right home for both. Thanks to Prabhakar Reddy and the OpenFX team for seeing the same thing we did. To Andrei Valeanu and Konstantin Indjov: there's no one I'd rather have built this with. To our main investors (Chrysanthos Chrysanthou, James Fitzgerald, ), our earliest backers (Marius Barnett, Manuel Stotz), our angels (special shout-out to Michael Kent, Tom Stafford, Charles ▫️ Delingpole, Maikel Lobbezoo, and Keith Grose), and everyone who shipped alongside us: thank you. And one more, who never gave up on me, kept me inspired, and fought for us: Maria Palma. Forever grateful. The deal is agreed and subject to regulatory approval.
