CJP Protest News Live Updates: CJP protesters pelt stones at police near Jantar Mantar; security stepped up
Delhi Police has registered multiple FIRs over the violence and alleged vandalism that took place during the protest, while the CJP has strongly contested the police action, alleging that peaceful protesters were subjected to excessive force.
CJP leaders have accused the Delhi Police of carrying out a brutal crackdown, claiming that several volunteers sustained injuries during the lathi-charge and were forcibly detained. The “Sansad Chalo” march ended in dramatic scenes of confrontation between protesters and the Delhi Police.
The march, organised to coincide with the opening of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, witnessed heavy security deployment across central Delhi as police stopped demonstrators from proceeding towards Parliament.
The party has asserted that the police action will only strengthen the movement and has vowed to continue its protest until its key demands are addressed. These include the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, accountability for alleged examination paper leaks, and justice for students affected by the education system.
Meanwhile, climate activist Sonam Wangchuk remains admitted to Safdarjung Hospital on medical advice and continues his hunger strike.
Although he has called off his fast, Wangchuk has reiterated that the movement itself is far from over and has urged Parliament to address the concerns raised by students and youth.
His prolonged fast brought national attention to the agitation, drawing support from political leaders, academics, actors and civil society members.
With Dipke continuing his sit-in at Jantar Mantar and the CJP maintaining pressure on the government, the protest has entered a new phase marked by legal proceedings, political reactions and continuing demonstrations.

Shri @RahulGandhi and @INCIndia chose to stage a dharna outside the Hon'ble Prime Minister's residence , causing inconvenience to the public and disregarding established security protocols.Even after Government conveyed its readiness for a comprehensive discussion, the Congress chose political spectacle over democratic debate. Their objective was never solutions for students, it was disruption for political headlines."

Delhi AAP chief Saurabh Bharadwaj said, "This energy of Gen Z can't be compared to any movement. The way students were beaten up, to intimidate them, but they are refusing to leave, the crowd is intact. So I feel they would only go back after the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, if the government delays, it would be the loss of the government."
Union Minister Jitendra Singh tweets, "Some time ago, it came to light that the Congress Party's national president Mallikarjun Kharge, and other senior leaders with him, such as Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and others, suddenly sat down for a sit-in protest near Akbar Road at a location with their supporters. In view of the dignity of this senior delegation, the government sent me personally, along with the Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, to the spot to hold talks with these senior leaders. A request was made to Rahul Gandhi to end his sit-in, as this site is not meant for protests, and holding a sit-in here is causing considerable inconvenience to the general public. Rahul Gandhi put forward the demand that if the government agrees to discuss in Parliament all issues related to NEET and the associated movement, he would immediately end his sit-in. Within a few moments, after taking permission from the government's top leadership, Rahul Gandhi was assured that his demand has been accepted, and the government is ready to discuss in Parliament all issues related to NEET and the associated movement."

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Tuesday accused the Centre of sending mixed signals by opening talks with the outfit even as police cracked down on protesters, alleging that the government's outreach was aimed at weakening the agitation.
Addressing supporters at Jantar Mantar, where protests over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations entered their 32nd day, Dipke claimed that senior CJP leaders were deliberately kept occupied during their meeting with Union health minister J P Nadda while police action unfolded on the streets.
“The government wasted our time. They invited our delegation. They seized their mobiles. Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were, in a way, under house arrest at J P Nadda’s residence,” Dipke alleged.
“The whole plan was to scatter the team, so that when there is chaos, no one is there. You call for talks on one hand, and unleash batons on students on the other hand,” he said.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, KC Venugopal, Pawan Khera and several other party leaders staged a protest at Lok Kalyan Marg on Tuesday.
The leaders demanded the resignations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged examination irregularities and the police action against student protesters.

Amid a controversy over an advisory that was perceived as asking students not to support the ongoing student protests on social media, IIT Roorkee on Tuesday clarified that the communication was not a new directive or policy.
The institute stated that the advisory is a routine internal communication circulated among students, faculty and staff at the beginning of every academic session.
The clarification came after the advisory triggered an uproar online, with critics linking it to the ongoing protests over alleged examination irregularities.
IIT Roorkee maintained that the communication was part of its standard academic session guidelines and should not be viewed as a fresh instruction.
The Delhi high court on Tuesday proposed shifting activist Sonam Wangchuk from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon.
The court observed that doctors monitoring his condition agreed that he required continued medical supervision.
The proposal came during the hearing of an appeal filed by Wangchuk's wife, Gitanjali Angmo, challenging his continued treatment at the government hospital.
Solicitor general Tushar Mehta told the court that the Centre had no objection to shifting Wangchuk to Medanta but said he should not seek discharge against medical advice.
The bench, comprising chief justice DK Upadhyaya and justice Tejas Karia, said it would pass a formal order later in the day.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday arrived at Jantar Mantar, where the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has been staging its protest, and pledged continued support to the student-led agitation.
Addressing protesters, Raut said, "The fire that has been lit here at Jantar Mantar will not be extinguished now."
He added that if required, leaders like him would also join the hunger strike.
Raut said the movement had spread beyond Delhi, with people taking to the streets in cities, towns and villages across the country.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Centre over the police action during the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) 'Chalo Sansad' protest.
He called July 20 a "Black Day" for Indian democracy and demanded that it be observed every year as "Coward's Day."

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said he met Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla along with Opposition MPs to demand a detailed discussion in Parliament on the police action against student protesters and the alleged examination crisis.
In a post on X, Gandhi said, "Our demand is simple: Parliament must have a detailed discussion on the brutality unleashed on students yesterday and on the government's complete lack of accountability for the examination crisis."
He added that students were "beaten for asking legitimate questions about their own future" and asserted that the Opposition would ensure their voices are heard "on the streets, and in Parliament."

Aazad Samaj Party-Kanshi Ram chief and MP Chandra Shekhar Azad on Tuesday staged an overnight protest inside the Parliament complex.
The protest was staged expressing solidarity with students protesting against alleged examination irregularities and demanding the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Slamming the police action during Monday's 'Sansad Chalo' march, Azad said, “Yesterday, when the nation's youth took to the streets, the brutality inflicted upon them was shocking. I felt that I could not remain silent while the youth wandered the streets, hungry and thirsty, waging a protest. I decided to fulfil my responsibility by joining the protest myself."
He questioned the government's handling of the month-long protest at Jantar Mantar and said he joined the demonstration in support of students after witnessing the alleged use of force against protesters.
"We take pride in being the world's largest democracy, yet in a democracy, dissent cannot be crushed with lathis. A protest has been ongoing at Jantar Mantar for 30 days; people have been on a hunger strike for 20 days. Was the government waiting for them to die?,” he said.
CJP on Tuesday said it would provide legal assistance to protesters who were detained or are facing legal action following the 'Chalo Sansad' march in Delhi.
In a post on X, the party asked affected protesters to fill out a form and get in touch with its team to receive the necessary legal support.

While the protest continues at Jantar Mantar, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has remained on a sit-in after ending his indefinite hunger strike at the request of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is currently admitted to Safdarjung Hospital.
Wangchuk, who is being hospitalised, has maintained that the movement will continue until the government accepts accountability for alleged failures in the education system or Parliament takes up the issue during the ongoing Monsoon Session.
The aftermath of Monday’s march has triggered a fresh political and legal battle.
The Delhi Police has registered an FIR at Connaught Place police station over the violence and alleged vandalism during the protest, while the CJP has accused police of using excessive force against peaceful demonstrators.
Party leaders alleged that protesters were lathi-charged, dragged on roads and seriously injured during the crackdown.
They also claimed that several supporters were detained as police prevented the march from reaching Parliament.
Despite the confrontation, the CJP has reiterated that it will continue its campaign seeking Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation and accountability over alleged examination paper leaks.
The protest has also attracted support from Opposition leaders, student groups, activists and public figures in recent weeks, turning the agitation into a broader movement over education reforms.
