4-time World Champion parts ways with WWE after nearly 20 years; recent move seemingly confirms

In a shocking development in the WWE landscape, a former World Champion has reportedly decided to part ways with the Stamford-based wrestling promotion. While there is no official confirmation on the same, a major move by WWE has hinted that he is indeed departing the company. The aforementioned former 4-time World Champion is none other than The Celtic Warrior Sheamus.He has been with WWE for nearly two decades, signing with the company in 2007. On the other hand, Sheamus has not been seen on WWE television since November 2025. Amid a hiatus, a report by Fightful Select stated that he is parting ways with WWE after his contract is nearing expiration and he turned down to sign an extension. While Sheamus or WWE have not released any official statement on the matter, he has been moved to their alumni section, seemingly confirming his departure. Moreover, since his deal is expiring, the former WWE Champion will not have to serve a 90-day non-compete clause and will be free to sign with other promotions immediately.Sheamus’ last WWE TV appearance was on the November 17 2025 episode of Monday Night RAW. On that night, he teamed up with Rey Mysterio and John Cena (in his final RAW appearance as an active wrestler) to defeat The Judgment Day (Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor & JD McDonagh). Following that, the Celtic Warrior injured his shoulder and underwent surgery in December, thereby withdrawing himself from ‘The Last Time is Now’ tournament after being officially announced as a competitor.Sheamus joined the WWE main roster as part of RAW in 2008. Within a year, he emerged as a dominant in-ring competitor and won matches against top stars. In 2009, he won a Breakout battle royal to become the No.1 contender for the WWE Championship, held by the Greatest of All Time at the time, John Cena. Both superstars squared off in a Tables match at the WWE TLC pay-per-view, where Sheamus pushed Cena off the top rope, who crashed on a table and shockingly won the WWE title in almost a year since joining RAW. Over the years, he carved out a spectacular resume, winning multiple titles, accolades, and becoming a top star.
