We've been working with Brett Group on our Ziggurat ride for a decade now, getting the construction industry to network in the saddle and take in some serious views (and hills!). “Reaching this 10-year milestone is a fantastic achievement and a testament to everyone who has organised, supported and taken part in the Ziggurat Ride over the past decade. Together, they have raised vital funds to improve the lives of sick babies, children and their families," says Brett Group chairman Bill Brett. “It is such a worthwhile cause as the work that Action Medical Research does affects so many, and we are incredibly proud to have been there from the very beginning as a founding member.” This September we'll be off on an unforgettable four-day tour through the hills and valleys of the Basque region of Spain to reach Madrid. We fight for children's lives We fight for answers. Answers that can lead to cures, treatment and medical breakthroughs.
About us
Action Medical Research is a UK-wide charity funding vital research to help sick and disabled babies and children. We fight for answers that can lead to cures, treatments and medical breakthroughs for some of the toughest fights our children face. Since we began in 1952, we have been funding medical breakthroughs and almost everyone has been touched in some way by our groundbreaking work - like the first polio vaccines in the UK, ultrasound in pregnancy and the rubella vaccine. Today, we continue to find and fund the very best medical research to help stop the suffering of babies and children caused by disease and disability. Did you know we are also Paddington Bear’s favourite UK charity? He has been our official mascot since 1976, when our founder Duncan Guthrie met Paddington’s creator Michael Bond.

We're delighted that RIDE Castle has joined RIDE Suffolk Sunrise in receiving a Gold Racecheck Award for 2026. Awards based on rider feedback are the ones that matter most. They reflect the hard work, dedication and passion that goes into delivering the event year after year. A huge thank you to everyone who makes RIDE Castle possible: our event team, volunteers, suppliers, partners and support crews. From planning and logistics to registration, feed stations and cheering riders across the finish line, every person plays an important role in creating the experience that participants value so highly. Most importantly, thank you to the cyclists who continue to support the event and take the time to share their feedback. Your reviews help us improve, evolve and deliver the best possible experience on event day. We're incredibly proud of this recognition and look forward to welcoming riders back to RIDE Castle in May 2027 for what will be the 22nd edition of the event.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our long-standing ambassador Dermot Murnaghan at the weekend. One of the UK's most respected broadcasters, Dermot supported Action Medical Research for many years, generously giving his time to help advance our mission of funding vital medical research for babies and children. As a keen cyclist, he hosted our Champions of CycleSport Dinner, interviewed some of the sport's biggest names and took on challenges including our Action End2End ride, plus the annual ‘Badgers Tour’, helping to raise awareness and much-needed funds for children's medical research. We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. Dermot's warmth, professionalism and commitment to helping others will be remembered fondly by everyone at Action Medical Research. Thank you, Dermot, for your support of our fight for little lives.

It was great to see Digby's story, our film made with Inspired Films, taking home the Highly Commended award in two categories at the EVCOM (Event & Visual Communication Association) Clarion Awards 2026. When we were making this film with Digby, he told us he wanted it to go viral – so now this is one step closer! We were highly commended in both the Health and Wellbeing Film and the Brand Communication Film categories. A privilege to support something truly special 🩵✨💙 Yesterday was one of those moments that will stay with me for a very long time. It was an absolute privilege for Denise Smith Consultancy to support Action Medical Research for children at Dine with Davina. The day was a wonderful reminder of what can be achieved when people come together with kindness, generosity and a shared purpose; making a real difference to the lives of babies, children and their families. It was also a privilege to meet the incredible Davina McCall and to celebrate an extraordinary milestone ✨50 years of support for Action Medical Research✨🩵 Hearing that Davina began fundraising at just 9 years old, taking part in her very first sponsored walk organised by her Granny Pippy, was both inspiring and a wonderful reminder that making a difference often begins with one act of kindness. A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in organising such a special event and to Action Medical Research for the incredible work you continue to do. Making a difference is what leadership is all about ✨💙 Hannah Smith Sarah Stevenson Ellie Wheelhouse Thank you. #Leadership Hylands Estate #ActionMedicalResearch #MakingADifference #Community #DSConsultancy #Thankyou

We're delighted, and immensely proud, that our Race the Sun series of team challenge fundraising events has featured in The Massive Top 25 for the very first time! The annual report ranks the UK’s largest charity owned mass participation fundraising events of the past year. Race the Sun features alongside 24 other events which raised a combined £136.4M for great causes over the past year, and is testament to the hard work and sheer graft of everyone involved, but none of which could have been possible without the support of our amazing particpants, and to all who donated to them. We often talk about how collaboration defines the London market, and there's nothing better than seeing our entire community step up to achieve a shared goal. With the 2026 Raptör Ride kicking off soon, I want to highlight our incredible mix of fellow sponsors this year. When you look at everyone who’s backing the event, you see a complete cross-section of our industry. We have brokers, underwriters, reinsurers, and digital follow platforms. Our riders represent entirely different walks of life, market disciplines, and fitness levels, and it's great to see everyone unite year after year. A massive thank you to everyone who is helping to make this year’s event possible: Ki, Brit Insurance, Lockton, SCOR, Verisk, Everest, Sompo International, Argenta, J.S. Held LLC, and Canopius Group. Whether we are navigating innovation or the steep climbs of the Black Forest, it’s amazing to see what we can achieve when we work together.
