On the day we announced our intended JV with Verizon, it was great to visit one of our key BT International hubs, in Budapest. It was the hottest day of the year, in the hottest city in Europe, but it was great to feel the warmth, and experience the expertise, we have in our BT Group team in Budapest, who are the Regional Operating Centre supporting the BT family across the world. Thank you Beth Mitchell, Naveen Agarwal, and Elena Barry for joining me, and to Xaviera Sancho for organising such a warm and fab 24hrs.
We’ve announced a proposed 50:50 joint venture between BT International and Verizon, bringing together trusted global connectivity expertise. This partnership combines deep customer relationships, global reach, and investment in innovation to support the future needs of multinational organisations. Subject to regulatory approvals, it would serve more than 3,000 customers across 180+ countries, with secure and resilient platforms built for the age of AI and sovereignty where it matters. For BT Group, this is another step forward in delivering a Better BT.
