What does it take to turn around a £20 million deficit in just two years? On the latest episode of the CFO Playbook, Rohan Hewavisenti explores how one finance leader helped steer an organisation from a deficit of more than £20 million back to break even, despite the unpredictability of fundraising income. The discussion is a reminder that resilience is not about reacting when things go wrong. It comes from making disciplined decisions before they do. AI adoption has an accountability problem. Employees are being asked to use AI before they feel fully trained, supported, or clear on how it will improve their work. As a result, productivity becomes harder to measure and business value harder to prove. The organisations seeing the greatest return from AI are not just encouraging adoption. They are creating clear accountability for outcomes and measuring impact against business goals.

Soldo reposted this
The early assumption in enterprise AI was straightforward: as token costs fall, AI becomes cheaper. In practice, token deflation is expanding demand faster than it reduces unit cost. Organizations are adding agentic workflows, embedding AI into existing systems, and absorbing AI-related price increases inside broader software renewals. Aggregate spend rises even when the unit price falls. The finance problem is attribution, not just expense size. AI purchasing is increasingly distributed across cards, departmental subscriptions, and API usage that never enters a structured procurement path. That distribution makes board-level ROI questions difficult to answer with retrospective systems. General ledger and expense data explain what happened after the fact. They do not provide control at the decision point. The next step is upstream governance at the transaction layer. That is where Soldo’s positioning is most relevant.
