Working with Smartbox Assistive Technology and ElevenLabs AI voice technology, just eight seconds of scratchy VHS audio (old skool DVDs for the younger generation!) was enough to recreate the sound of her speech, giving her children the chance to hear their mum as she once sounded. Hearing the word 'pitch' initially used to fill me with fear, if I'm honest. But there are parts of it that can be so fun - the creative process, the team collaboration, the buzz afterwards. If you can manage to appreciate that and not pile the pressure on, that's agency life at its best. Shoutout to Dominic Baliszewski and Amy Simpson for being the absolute best at this.

The turnout was brilliant and it was great to be in a passionate group and share how we're helping children take more confident steps into reading through our online reading programme. Roxy and I had some great conversations with local organisations who are as committed to driving social value as we are. It was good timing as Chapter One is expanding our school partnerships into the Bristol area in the next academic year! We didn't win an award this time (felt like a long shot to win two years in a row!) but the awards are such a small part of the evening. The night was all about meeting and connecting with the local tech community and Jason Smith, Kristèle S. and I had a great time doing just that. . Wonderful to chat to so many awesome people, old friends, new connections and many that I've seen online for a while... finally meeting IRL. .
