Ben Clark shared thisWhat's possible when AI has a body, not just a brain, when it interacts directly with our physical world, not just our screens? Personally, I gain so much from the opportunities I have through Future Worlds, the University of Southampton, Responsible Ai UK, and CORNERSTONE to meet some of the incredible researchers across the UK, to discover what they're working on and to learn from the years of insight they've gained along the way. I really enjoy being able to share a few glimpses of that through The Age of AI podcast, and this week it was excellent to have Shan Luo from King's College London join Lara Lewington and me to explore the exciting area of physical AI, to understand what's going on in the background and to imagine what's becoming possible now and in the near future. Ben Clark shared thisHow will we shape AI, as AI inevitably shapes us? It's such a fundamental question that Kanishka Narayan MP asked as he spoke at The AI Summit London this week. So much of what he said resonated with me, as he called back to Britain's seminal role in the first industrial revolution, challenging us to step up and take our place in shaping today's revolution. Reminding us that it goes far beyond just industry: in this country we have been powered by a bigger idea of progressing humanity! "It's about agency: that anyone with the skills and capabilities and motivation should have the opportunity to make a difference. A state with the confidence to shape the world on values of boldness and fairness, with agency, beauty and dignity of work at its heart. Empowering people who see a problem and think "this should be better", and who have the impatience to build the solution. "It's not just a question of, 'what can AI do?' But 'who has the agency to shape it? Who builds decides who benefits!" I couldn't agree more!
