Jacob Andelin shared thisWelcome to FFE Ltd Archie!Jacob Andelin shared thisIt's been a busy summer and I've finally found time to post this update! Firstly, I finished my 4 years at the University of Leeds graduating this summer with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering. Since then I have been working as an Intern at FFE Ltd. During this internship I have enjoyed working with and across various departments at FFE. Firstly, I worked to help FFE understand their current environmental impact through completion of TM65s across all product ranges, laying the groundwork for future sustainability projects. I then gained experience in project management, delivering a test facility and showcase for FFE products. During this time, I received a PFQ (Project Fundamentals Qualification) from the Association for Project Management. Finally, I transitioned to the Production Engineering department, where I have been learning a lot about good engineering practices in a modern manufacturing company. This week, I am very pleased to share that FFE have promoted me to Graduate Engineer where I will be working for the next few months while I look for a permanent graduate position. I want to thank everyone at FFE for making my time so enjoyable and rewarding, and I look forward to continuing to develop my skills with them.

Jacob Andelin posted thisSo, after many years successfully delivering product development projects - and since making project management my career focus since rejoining FFE Ltd three years ago - I finally have my first official qualification in the subject! I am now the proud recipient of Association for Project Management PFQ!! Karin Maule of Wellingtone did an excellent job of delivering the training, and my FFE colleagues and I are looking forward to applying the learning to our long list of projects.

In just under 8 weeks, I’ll run the Great North Run 2025 in memory of my parents, aunt, uncle, and friends all taken by cancer in the last few years. It’s the most personal challenge I’ve ever set myself. Balancing work, travel, and training hasn’t been easy. There’ve been injuries and setbacks. But every early morning run is a small act of defiance against grief, against powerlessness. I’m raising funds for Cancer Research to support research, care, and hope for those still fighting. Thank you to Kerry Bryant and the team who organised the day, ensuring everything ran smoothly from start to finish, and to Putteridge Bury Conference Centre for hosting us in such a fantastic setting. We'd also like to thank our guest speakers, Dr Steve Ingham and Claire Cole and Remi Buckle from Herts Young Homeless, for sharing their insights and experiences with us throughout the day. A special thank you to our own team members, Thomas Codd, Tracey Brown and Aleem Khalid, for leading engaging sessions and sharing their expertise with colleagues from across the business. Jacob Andelin liked thisJacob Andelin liked thisCould the next generation of engineers be sitting in today's classrooms? ✏️🔧 This week, we welcomed students from Priory School, Hitchin to FFE to mark International Women in Engineering Day. We were kindly sent these photos from their teacher. During their visit, they explored our manufacturing environment, met members of the team, saw how our fire detection technologies are produced, and took part in hands-on activities focused on teamwork, quality and continuous improvement. Our "T-shirt Folding Factory" challenge 👕 proved that even the simplest tasks can be improved through clear processes, collaboration and problem-solving - principles that underpin engineering every day. It was a pleasure to share an insight into the variety of careers available in engineering and manufacturing, and we hope the visit inspired students to consider the opportunities the industry has to offer. This experience strengthened my understanding of PMO frameworks, governance, and portfolio delivery, and provided practical tools I can apply immediately. If you’re working in or looking to step into PMO, I highly recommend this course - it’s structured, insightful, and directly relevant to real-world PMO challenges.
