One hire is now expected to own: → Paid across every channel → GEO & SEO → Revops → Reporting & attribution And iff that wasn’t enough, you also need to be a claude code and AI workflow expert. I don’t know when this became normal. Great marketers are T-shaped. They go deep in one or two areas and keep a working understanding of the rest. You can’t expect one person to be an entire team. High time we stopped pretending that you can.

Olabinjo Adeniran shared thisI feel like social media has closed the gap between older and younger people, but older people still don't want to admit that new media platforms are almost always dominated by young people in their late teens and early twenties. Remember radio? Remember MTV? Helloooo? Young people are just having fun with media in ways you don't understand. The same way you had fun in ways your parents didn't understand. You're not supposed to understand. It's not for you! I spent so much time (even without much access to the Internet) on Facebook and Twitter that, in 2012, a company's CEO sent me a message asking me to post for their company? And I couldn't believe it. It was remote too. *Gasps in all of the ways people cannot imagine the future* And this kickstarted a career that no pundit or older person could have sat to plot out 😂 😂. Because you actually don't know the future. You're in 2026 for the first time, like me! Like a 20-year-old! Who would have thought that all of the hours I spent on Facebook would lead me to learning HTML and SQL? I was just trying to mess around on the Internet and have fun on the 20+ social media sites at the time. Not many people thought this thing would be a big deal or some kind of career. Not even the leading media, comms, or advertising people considered this important. They thought it was flimsy. Why do we want to encourage what young people are doing on Tumblr? But hey, let's allow young people to have fun on the internet, okay? You're the person who hasn't grown up enough to leave some space for dem kids to have fun, and you're encroaching on their turf on TikTok LMAO. Go do something age-appropriate and let the youngins enjoy the 5 years of their lives when they don't have responsibilities, please. Yeah, every generation is lazy. Including yours. We've heard this before 😂 😂

Olabinjo Adeniran posted thisNigeria today is not conducive for young people. Of any age. So I really don't understand why the few successful entrepreneurs berate them. When they can inspire, offer hope, help people dream of a brighter future?Young Nigerians already feel like they're not doing enough. Many of them carry responsibilities beyond their age. You'd never see successful Nigerian entrepreneurs point out that there are over 10 million children (of primary school age) out of school in the same country and ask what the government is going to do about it. Just always berating young people who haven't been given anything by their society. Poor education. Poor infrastructure. Poor healthcare. Nigeria is part of African Union agreements to increase its health and education budgets to match certain standards. The Nigerian government has never been able to do this. Since 2001!!!!! Yet each year it buys thousands of cars for elected and appointment officials. Every year. Without fail. You want young people to make something out of themselves from thin air!!!!!!! Just generally exhausted of narratives that don't have any empathy for young people. And it comes from those who are very privileged in society and grew up in a completely different time, when yes, things were not perfect but they were statistically much better! Comparing business people in the past, who received cheap loans by virtue of government patronage, to young people today is grossly unfair and ridiculous! The country is quite literally the worst place to be born in the world. What are we talking about here? You want young people to squeeze water out of sand? Because you're a successful entrepreneur out of millions of failed entrepreneurs? What is the government going to do for the millions of young people who are in dire need of a good education, healthcare and infrastructure? I don't see any plans and I honestly don't care if someone made money and funded political parties when he was 35. What did those parties do for the people? How can you leave behind a legacy of destruction?

Olabinjo Adeniran liked thisOlabinjo Adeniran liked thisOver the weekend we had the opportunity to pitch LiveIn for the first time at the Termii Group Elevate Pitch Competition alongside some incredible founders building solutions across Africa. We didn't win, but every pitch makes us better. The feedback, conversations, and connections were just as valuable as any prize. For us at LiveIn the mission hasn't changed. House hunting in Nigeria is still unnecessarily stressful. People still deal with fake listings, endless inspections, and uncertainty when trying to find a home. We'll keep building a platform that makes renting simpler, safer, and more transparent. Based on valuable feedback, we're also exploring rent financing to help make quality housing more accessible. We believe this will be solving an even bigger issue bordering around the decline in purchasing power of Nigerians, due to inflation. You can self-learn, watch YouTube videos or take online courses, interestingly many of us started that way. Today, GenAI makes learning even more accessible than ever before. But there is a difference between knowing how to do marketing and understanding why marketing works. That difference comes from intentionally building your knowledge, challenging your thinking, and committing to continuous professional development. Today, I received confirmation that my first year of CPD has been approved by the CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing. For me, this isn't about adding another title after my name. It's about remaining a student of the profession, ensuring that as the industry evolves, I continue to grow with it and not just rely on "AI" 😅 .
