Kernara is built on a model that we think the travel industry has had backwards. Most operators design a tour at head office and then find a guide to deliver it. We've done it the other way round. We've brought together a team of incredible local guides and asked each of them to design their perfect tour. The result is a collection of unique luxury tours that could only be delivered by the guide who designed each one. No two tours are the same because no two people see Cornwall the same way. We're creating real relationships with travel advisors, partners and suppliers throughout the UK, US and beyond. So if you're in the travel space, I'd love to have a conversation! Phil Burns and I are especially proud to be bringing a Cornwall-based luxury travel brand to the place I am now lucky enough to call home. We're starting with Cornwall... but where will be next? 👀

Whilst it has taken longer than originally anticipated to bring the facility online, we have remained focused on doing things the right way. Rather than rushing to open, we have invested the time and effort needed to establish a laboratory that meets the high standards our clients expect from Igne Testing, including achieving UKAS accreditation and implementing the robust quality systems that underpin our services across the UK. The opening of our Bristol Laboratory is a significant milestone for Igne Testing and reflects the growing demand from clients across the South West and South Wales for a local provider capable of delivering the same consistent, high-quality construction materials testing services that have become synonymous with the Igne name. In particular, we have seen strong demand for accredited asphalt testing and field services, and the new facility enables us to support projects more efficiently whilst maintaining the highest technical and quality standards. We are also pleased to welcome Mark Ward and Francois Taljaard to the senior management team in Bristol. Both bring a wealth of industry experience, technical knowledge and leadership to the business. Their commitment to quality, professionalism and doing things the right way aligns perfectly with Igne Testing's values and will play a key role in the continued growth and success of the laboratory. The Bristol Laboratory is already providing a comprehensive range of accredited laboratory, site testing and sampling services, with additional testing capabilities currently being transferred and expanded. This investment strengthens our national network and enhances our ability to provide responsive, reliable and technically robust support to clients throughout the region. I've had setbacks before, picked myself up and kept going. But the last six months have felt different. I have AI anxiety. Some days I think we're moving at exactly the right pace. Other days I wonder if our competitors, and even our clients, are racing ahead. Some days I'm excited by what's possible. Other days I feel completely out of my depth. Being a small boutique firm can feel like our biggest advantage, we're agile and can adapt quickly. Then I worry that without deep pockets for endless investment, we'll be left behind. I find myself wondering what we'll be recruiting in 12 months' time. Accountants? Software engineers? Or accountant-engineers? It's exciting and overwhelming at the same time. Then I remind myself of something. When I ran the Great North Run for a charity that had been a lifeline for a close friend, I got through it by remembering why I was running. Purpose matters. At Cortus, our purpose hasn't changed. We exist to provide the highest-quality advice to our clients. AI will change how we deliver that advice, but it won't change why we do it. People still trust people. Its in our DNA.
