America invented nuclear power, built the shale revolution and sold LNG to the world. It took energy to power America's first 250 years. It will take energy to power the next 250. That's the lesson Jeremy Harrell draws out in a new op-ed for The Daily Caller: innovation, not regulation, is what built American energy dominance and what will extend it. Fusion has the potential to strengthen American energy security, leadership and competitiveness for decades to come — and it is moving closer to commerical deployment. ClearPath CEO Jeremy Harrell joined Trent Bauserman, Head of Federal Affairs at Commonwealth Fusion Systems, Scott Hsu, Fusion Partner at Lowercarbon Capital, and Jennifer Gordon, Director of the Nuclear Energy Policy Initiative at the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center, for a discussion on how advancements in fusion technology are shifting the conversation from scientific feasibility to commercialization, deployment and scale. The window is real and so is the competition. Public-private partnerships and a resilient domestic supply chain can ensure America leads in this critical technology. Thanks to CleanEcon and Atlantic Council for co-hosting.
This week, we released IGNITION: The Future of Fusion, a short documentary from Future in Bloom about the race to unlock fusion and the scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs making one of history’s most ambitious energy technologies a reality. Thank you to Commonwealth Fusion Systems, Zap Energy, Xcimer Energy, and Type One Energy for sharing their stories. We welcomed filmmaker Steph Speirs, Trent Bauserman from Commonwealth Fusion Systems, Jeremy Harrell from ClearPath, and Scott Hsu from Lowercarbon Capital, who joined Jennifer Gordon from the Atlantic Council for a conversation on what it will take to turn fusion into a viable source of power. Thank you to the Atlantic Council for hosting, and ClearPath for cohosting. Watch “Ignition”.

The next chapter of the U.S.-UK relationship won't be written in ink. It will be built in megawatts. Since 2000, China and Russia have built 64 reactors. The U.S. has built seven. The UK has built none. Every reactor sale locks in a strategic relationship for up to a century. The Atlantic Partnership for Advanced Nuclear Energy is a serious start. But frameworks can be unwound. What's needed is permanent legal architecture: regulatory reciprocity, competitive export finance, and a unified fuel cycle. We can't out-subsidize China. But we can out-innovate. George Smith breaks down what the U.S.-UK energy partnership looks like in practice. American energy dominance starts with innovation. China is investing across the full energy & technology landscape under a coordinated national strategy. The U.S. has a world-class research system, deep capital markets and a dynamic private sector, but federal policy too often treats basic research and applied energy programs as separate tracks. In her new The Washington Times op-ed, Head of Policy Lisa Epifani lays out how Congress can connect basic research and applied energy programs into one unified strategy to beat China and win the global energy race. Geothermal’s future is SUPERHOT. It was a pleasure to discuss how the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is accelerating innovation and commercialization of new geothermal technologies with Conner Prochaska, Director of Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) and Head of Partnerships for the Genesis Initiative. We covered a lot of ground ⚡️The Adminstration is throwing every tool it has at its disposal to accelerate deployments of new geothermal. 🧪 ARPA-E’s new SUPERHOT program is targeting big bets on super-hot reservoirs (>375 o C), material challenges, well construction, and efficiencies that could unlock terrawatts of new geothermal. 🌎 US scientific leadership presents immense international partnership opportunities to support clean affordable and reliable energy globally. 💡 Scaling new forms of baseload clean energy like geothermal, nuclear, and fusion are essential to American AI leadership. Thanks to Project InnerSpace for hosting us at the #ceraweek Geothermal House S&P Global
