During SF Climate Week in April, we convened Danish and Californian policymakers, industry leaders, and sustainability practitioners for a day of discussions on the future of the built environment - from healthy and sustainable housing to the role of data and digitalization in accelerating the green transition.
The day was kicked off by Consul General Jacob Vind who put words to why it’s relevant to focus on and invest in the transatlantic cooperation between Denmark and California, and we were pleased to collaborate closely with VELUX and Energistyrelsen on the event.
Through the introduction of “Living Places”, a Copenhagen-developed housing concept, Kyle Post from VELUX helped frame discussions on how healthier, more sustainable housing can be designed and delivered in practice.
In the afternoon, the dialogue continued with valuable contributions from the Energistyrelsen, including Nina Hilbard and Laura Røtzler Holm, who shared Danish experiences with digitalization, building data, and energy efficiency, with Stet Sanborn, AIA FASHRAE moderating the afternoon-part of the event.
A special thank you to Commissioner J. Andrew McAllister of the California Energy Commission for joining us, as well as Doug Fowler, Andrea "Andy" Pease, Jessica Steely, Ram Narayanamurthy, and Michael Larcher for contributing their expertise and perspectives.
During the networking sessions, we saw participants exchange ideas and identify areas for collaboration, which have already shaped conversations well beyond SF Climate Week.
"Facilitating exchanges like these is core to our mission. We strive to create impact through our close partnership with Californian stakeholders - and we look forward to following up and sharing where these new connections lead," says Consul General Jacob Vind.
