As the United Nations progresses with the UN80 Initiative, collaboration and efficiency have become more crucial than ever. This is precisely why The United Nations Global Marketplace (UNGM) is so important. As the common procurement portal for the UN system, the UNGM platform is vital for enhancing both efficiency and collaboration: 🔗 By centralizing procurement, we eliminate duplicated efforts across numerous UN agencies, ensuring that we operate as a unified body. 📈 Transparent and streamlined processes allow us to make every dollar go further, enabling us to achieve more with limited resources. 🌍 UNGM bridges the gap between UN staff and the global supplier community. Addressing the world's biggest challenges requires innovative suppliers from every corner of the globe. Together, we can create a greater impact for people and the planet. 📌 Today we are highlighting Work Package #14 of the UN80 Action Plan, focused on a Unified Services Roadmap to deepen the sharing of operational services across the UN System - globally and at country-level. In 2024, the UN system delivered over $60 billion in programmes across more than 160 countries. With resources under sustained pressure, an efficient operational backbone - including ICT, payroll, human resources, procurement, supply chains and facilities - is essential to maximize value. Today, many organizations continue to run separate systems for the services, while many country offices maintain parallel back-office teams. Building on commitments in every pillar, the UN80 Initiative will advance an irreversible shift toward shared operational support services at every level, consolidating support into a smart, efficient and interconnected architecture and prioritizing unified global arrangements and joint services. The Secretary-General is aligning a coalition of UN system entities around a Unified Services Roadmap that brings together efforts by the UN system's High-Level Committee on Management, Business Innovation Group, and humanitarian teams: 1️⃣ Start an irreversible shift toward global shared services, with some services provided by consolidated entities and others through marketplaces of providers. The first wave, beginning in 2026, progressively integrates supply chains, taking the New Humanitarian Compact as the concrete starting point, followed by basic ICT, payroll, HR, finance and ERP systems within a sequenced roadmap. 2️⃣ Accelerate the move to common country back offices to eliminate costly duplication on the ground, with core humanitarian in-country services at the centre of these efforts. 3️⃣Progressively harmonize programme support costs through a transparent rate model, creating predictability and a strong incentive for collective action. Every dollar saved can be unlocked for more impact on the ground. #UnitedToDeliver
