You don’t need all the answers to lead well. That's Hollie Castro's advice for HR leaders. For her, trust starts with transparency. When change is coming, tell people what's changing and what you're still figuring out. People don’t expect perfection. They need honesty they can trust. What’s helping your organization lead through change right now?

You probably remember the manager who really noticed your work. Ridgeline’s Erica Lied does too. That's why recognition belongs in the DNA of every company, according to Erica at Workhuman Live. When organizations turn those everyday moments into strategy, they can strengthen engagement, retention, and create a better employee experience. Who last made you feel seen at work? #WHLive2026

It was such a joy speaking with KeyAnna Schmiedl at Workhuman last week about the as-yet untapped power of recognition data. We covered the tech innovation, we covered bias, and I even learned about some really cool initiatives happening behind the scenes to support neurodivergent colleagues. The conversation is now written up and live, link in comments. Plus join our newsletter to be the first to receive great content, news and innovations from the Employee Experience space. Expect a part #2 of this piece after we catch up at UNLEASH in Paris in October - hope to see many of our readers there!

Organizations are investing in AI at record speed. Their people deserve the same attention. While Europe is outpacing North America in AI adoption, many European organizations are still struggling to make recognition a part of everyday work, according to Lynette Silva Heelan at Workhuman Forum London. The result is more than a few missed thank-yous. When great work isn't recognized, leaders can't see who's creating impact, and employees don't get the full view into how their hard work really matters.

Managers are carrying a lot. 53% say they don't have the time or resources they need to support their team effectively. The best recognition programs should make leading people easier. That’s what EmblemHealth has achieved with BRAVO!, where 79% of managers actively use the platform and 68% regularly recognize their direct reports. Recognition works best when it's part of the culture, not another task on the checklist.

Everyone wants a high-performing culture. But to get there, you need to start with the fundamentals. At Workhuman Live, Khalil Smith shared the building blocks that make for a great culture: awareness, clarity, community, and systems. With those values as your foundation, you can build a workplace where people know what's expected, feel connected, and can do their best work.

Who would you rather have build your AI strategy: people who don't know how your organization runs, or the people who are doing the work every day? In Forbes, Workhuman CHXO KeyAnna Schmiedl shared why organizations should "crowdsource the genius" already inside their workforce. The people closest to the work know where friction exists and where AI can actually help. The future of work works better when humans help build it.

Can you change workplace culture in 20 minutes or less? Jennifer Moss says yes. Culture change doesn't have to start big. Small actions, repeated over time, can have an outsized impact on how people experience work.

KeyAnna Schmiedl makes the case that the worst thing a leader can do right now is disappear into a huddle, crafting the "perfect" message about AI and the future of work while their people sit in uncertainty. Her advice? Say what you know. Admit what you don't. Then go talk to your people — one real conversation at a time. Is your leadership designing for the future, or just letting it happen? 🎙️ KeyAnna Schmiedl, Chief Human Experience Officer Workhuman Allie Mills, Executive Activation
