Abby Kelsey shared thisThis week we wrapped up another year of one of our Marketing Leadership Roundtables, and I couldn't be more grateful for this incredible group. Some have been together for one year. Others have now completed two... some even three plus! When we talk about community at Marketers' Community, this is exactly what we mean. Over the last year, this group showed up…not just for themselves, but for each other. And as you can imagine...a lot can happen in a year... ⇧ We celebrated promotions. ⇩ We navigated layoffs. ⇧ We supported career changes and new opportunities. ⇨ We worked through tough leadership challenges. ⇨ We challenged each other to become stronger marketing leaders and create greater impact within our organizations. ★ We shared wins, failures, ideas, and honest conversations that don't always happen inside our own organizations. Because marketing is constantly changing. The channels evolve. Technology evolves. AI evolves. Business priorities shift overnight. 🤫 And here's a secret: The best marketing leaders know they can't navigate it alone. That's why these Roundtables exist. They're about having a trusted group of peers who challenge your thinking, offer perspective when you're stuck, celebrate your wins, and remind you that you're not the only one facing the challenges of modern marketing. Watching this group grow over the past year has been one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. Abby Kelsey shared thisJust because your LinkedIn content gets views…doesn’t mean it’s working. And here's my take on why: Impressions still matter, of course. But no longer should it just be about "views" 👉 It’s about reaching the right people and inspiring the right actions. So if you want to know if your LinkedIn content is actually doing its job... Here are the three things I suggest you take a look at: 1️⃣ Who Your Content Is Reaching: → In-network reach shows how effectively you’re engaging the people who already follow or are connected to you. → Out-of-network reach shows whether your ideas are traveling beyond your existing audience and introducing you to new people. Neither is inherently “better.” They serve different purposes. But discovery is only one part of the story. 2️⃣ Evaluate Your Engagement Different engagement types reveal different levels of interest and intent: 👍 Reactions signal: “I agree, relate, or recognize this.” 💬 Comments signal: “This gave me something to add, question, or discuss.” 💾 Saves signal: “This is useful enough to return to.” *HINT: Save this post ;) 🔁 Reposts signal: “This is worth sharing with my own audience.” 📩 Sends signal: “This made me think of someone specific.” 🔗 Link clicks signal: “I’m interested enough to take the next step.” 👤 Profile viewers from this post *my personal favorite* signal: “This made me want to learn more about you.” 3️⃣ Check Your Audience Relevance Your post demographics show whether your content reached the type of people it was intended for: → Job titles → Locations → Companies → Industries Then ask: Does this audience align with who I'm trying to reach? Because reaching 30,000 people means very little if they aren’t relevant to your goals. So let's swap the "did this post get impressions" with ... Did this post generate the type of response it was created to generate from the people I wanted it to reach? That’s the difference between posting content for views and building a content strategy that helps you reach your goals. Metrics matter. And understanding them changes everything! P.S. But when you take a closer look, it's not always the reality. 📈 Are both teams working toward the same business goals? 📢 Do they have regular conversations about challenges, opportunities and what's actually happening with customers? 🤝 Do they understand each other's priorities and perspectives? True alignment doesn't happen by accident. It requires shared goals, clear communication, mutual accountability and a willingness to learn from one another. The discussion reinforced how powerful sales and marketing alignment can be as a growth driver — and how much work it takes to get there! I’ve spent my career in sales and have been part of plenty of marketing conversations, but it was great to hear the conversation from a different perspective. Because the reality is, both sides have heard it before: “Marketing should be doing this…” “Sales isn’t following up…” “We need better leads.” And from the discussion, it was clear that this is a recurring challenge for a lot of companies. One takeaway that stuck with me was simple: Alignment starts with shared priorities, clear communication, and a genuine effort to understand each other’s perspectives. The best sales teams understand the message marketing is trying to communicate, and the best marketing teams understand what sales is hearing directly from customers. Abby Kelsey shared this95 registrants. A rooftop social hour. Hours of planning... And then... a giant downpour and some of the worst traffic imaginable. 🌧️ I'll admit, as an event organizer, those are the moments that make you really nervous... But despite the weather, despite the traffic.... WOW, did this community show up! (65+ of you, to be exact!) And that's something I'll never take for granted. Building community takes a lot of work behind the scenes. There are always things you can plan for...and plenty you can't. So seeing marketers, sales leaders, founders, and executives make the effort to be there reminded me why we do this in the first place. The conversations were fantastic. And our panel absolutely delivered. 👏 My top 5 takeaways from our discussion on sales and marketing alignment: 1️⃣ Alignment doesn't start with sharing activities. It starts with sharing the problems you're trying to solve. 2️⃣ If the messaging is off, nothing else matters. The best marketing strategy and the strongest sales team can't overcome a message that doesn't resonate. 3️⃣ Most misalignment is really a process problem. You can't communicate your way out of a broken process. Alignment requires fixing the process, not just increasing communication or adding more tools. 4️⃣ Sales and marketing should share their KPIs tied to business outcomes. Not marketing goals. Not sales goals. Business goals. 5️⃣ Share your insights. Sales teams hear customer challenges every day. Marketing teams have access to data and behavior. Tim Kirschbaum, Tim Kirschbaum, your comment just made my entire day - honestly, my entire week!!! This is exactly why we do what we do: to create a space where marketers can learn from one another, challenge each other's thinking, gain perspective, and realize they don't have to navigate this profession alone.
Although this particular Roundtable has come to an end, I know the relationships certainly haven't. I can't wait to stay connected, watch everyone's careers continue to evolve, and cheer each of you on as your journeys unfold. Here's to everything that's ahead! 🎉

The latest 2026 Harvard Business Impact Enterprise Global Leadership Study found that organizations are increasingly looking for leadership development programs that: 📊 Scale across the organization (47%) 📊 Measure training effectiveness (43%) 📊 Focus on practical application—not just theory (42%) 📊 Create sustained learning beyond the program (39%) The study also found organizations are placing greater emphasis on leadership development that helps leaders: • Reduce stress and prevent burnout • Build a culture of continuous learning • Lead through change • Develop more human-centered leadership None of this surprised me. In fact, I'm encouraged to see more organizations recognizing what many of us in leadership development have experienced for years. Leaders don't need another inspiring workshop they'll forget by Monday morning... 👉 They need practical tools they can use in real conversations. 👉 They need opportunities to practice. 👉 They need accountability. 👉 And they need time to reflect, learn, and continue growing long after the session ends. Because leadership development isn't about checking a box. It's about changing behaviors that create better leaders and ultimately stronger organizations. I'm curious... Do you think organizations are finally making this shift from viewing leadership development as a "nice-to-have" to seeing it as a strategic investment?

Target renovates school libraries across the country each year through the Target School Library Makeover program. As part of the renovation process, each in-need school receives 2,000 new books and a technology upgrades complete with iPads, interactive white boards and more. At the unveiling of each library, every student and his/her siblings received seven new books to take home. Team Members volunteer to assist with various projects through the renovation.
