She came to United Way as a summer intern, and she proved so invaluable to the policy team, we extended her internship through her last year in school. She was our first graduate student intern from the UC Berkeley MPH program, and because we had such a wonderful experience with her, we decided to host another graduate intern from that program this year. Alaya was a pleasure to work with and contributed to growing and strengthening our role in public policy and advocacy, particularly in the areas of health access, minimum wage, and workforce development -- now key areas of our policy agenda. ”
