Great conversation between Peter Diamandis and Dave Blundin. One point from Dave is especially important for operators and investors, and it often gets lost in the hype: AI drives the cost of intelligence toward zero. Not literally zero. But low enough that it stops being the constraint. His nuance matters. Even in a world of cheap models, intelligence isn’t free. Tokens are still scarce when you’re running multiple agents, grounding outputs, reducing hallucinations, and coordinating real workflows.  For SMB owners and Sponsors looking at the investment case, here’s why that matters: The marginal cost of AI inference is falling exponentially, and over time will be trivial compared to the value created when intelligence is embedded inside operations. SMB owner/operators can deploy at scale to aggressively eliminate bottlenecks with little risk of future cost pressure. Sponsors will see that once access is democratized, execution becomes the moat. Those who build a repeatable model for operational intelligence will have an asset that compounds across a portfolio.

Fundraising isn't dating. It's a sales funnel. And most founders don't track it, so 3 months go by while they're still "in conversations." Here's the brutal math (seed round, current selectivity): 100-200 investor outreaches → 15-20% reply rate → 15-30 first meetings → 5-10 partner meetings → 1-3 term sheets → 1 close If you're not tracking conversion at each stage, you're not fundraising. You're hoping. Founders who close faster don't have better luck. They have better systems: 1. They track the funnel weekly Where are leads dying? Outreach, first meeting, partner meeting? Each bottleneck has a different fix. 2. They iterate the narrative Every week: one sharper answer to the question that killed the last meeting. 3. They batch meetings 10 meetings in 2 weeks beats 10 meetings over 2 months. Compression creates urgency. Urgency creates leverage. 4. They treat "no" as data A fast no is worth more than a slow maybe. It frees you to find the real yes. If your fundraise feels stuck, stop asking "Who else can I talk to?" Start asking "Where is my funnel breaking?" I stress-test fundraising packages for founders. Deck, model, cap table, assumptions. You might alienate some buyers, but for the right one, you’re a perfect fit. ❤️ 5️⃣ Down year? Still sellable. Revenue dips aren’t deal killers. Buyers care about normalized profitability and strategic fit. If you’ve right-sized your team and tightened margins, we can adjust the expense base in modeling, and buyers will still line up if the fundamentals are strong. Two weeks ago on Swimming with Allocators, we sat down with David Clark, CIO at VenCap, to talk about what decades of venture data can teach allocators. One takeaway that stood out: discounts don’t matter as much as people think in venture secondaries. Because venture is such a power-law asset class, outcomes are driven by exposure to a few massive winners. Whether a stake is bought at a small discount, or even a premium, often matters far less than the quality of the underlying company and its upside.
