For 17 years now I’ve been learning to admire and love this country that I call home, and that, like others, has great and also things to improve, but shines in having the balance of powers, constant fight for freedom and for democracy, more important than ever levers for us to continue building a better world. And crucial to this world that more and more blurs people and AI on how things get done. Rishi Padhi liked thisThis one is truly very special! Truly grateful for this experience and also for Latur's hospitality :-)Rishi Padhi liked thisThis one is special and close to our hearts. Perhaps the most testing chapter of our GuzzUp journey. 14th January. Makar Sankranti. A date we'll never forget. It was supposed to be the day we signed our very first co-packer agreement. After weeks of discussions, factory visits, negotiations and planning, this felt like the final formality. We walked into the office carrying the agreement... and boxes of sweets. We spoke about expansion plans. Our custom mould was already under development. Everything was on track. Then came one sentence. "Let's sign on the 16th. We don't sign agreements on Sankranti." That 16th never came. The deal quietly fell apart. Just two months before the beverage season. For anyone in this industry, you'll know what that means. We had already paid advances to suppliers to secure our raw materials and packaging. Finding a new co-packer in the middle of February felt almost impossible. But founders don't have the luxury of giving up. We started all over again. After weeks of relentless hustling, we found a new manufacturing partner in Latur, Maharashtra—one that turned out to be far better than what we had originally signed up for. We thought the storm had passed. It hadn't. As our production trials approached, the Iran conflict disrupted fuel supplies, transport became unpredictable, ingredients were delayed, and even our mould arrived weeks behind schedule. For days, our lives revolved around tracking IDs, transporter helplines and courier updates. At one point, we knew those numbers better than our own phone numbers. Twice, we drove to the Latur bus station at midnight to collect critical shipments ourselves and rush them straight to the factory. Our planned three-day production trial became six. We washed clothes in the hotel sink so we could wear them again the next morning. We learnt about Brix, pH, acidity and recipe adjustments on the factory floor. We clocked over 15,000 steps a day without ever entering a gym. From the trial to the commercial run, we stayed almost one full month in Latur. And then... The first GuzzUp bottle rolled out of the steaming conveyor. In that moment, every sleepless night, every setback and every ounce of doubt simply disappeared. It felt less like watching a bottle being made... ...and more like watching a dream come alive. Looking back, we're grateful things didn't go according to plan. Those months taught us resilience, patience and the importance of never letting go of a dream. More than anything, they showed us the value of the people who stand beside you when things aren't going your way. The road to building something meaningful is rarely straight. But sometimes, the detours take you exactly where you were meant to be. We thank BAI-KAKAJI POLYMERS LIMITED Pramodji, Akshay Mundada Akash Mundada for your support and partnership from day 1. #entrepreneurship #founderstory #GuzzUp Aashi Sanghvi Pranav Sheel

Rishi Padhi liked thisRishi Padhi liked thisNOBODY WROTE YOUR LETTER. NOBODY WILL READ IT EITHER! Last week, a student asked me for a letter of recommendation. She sent me a draft to work from, which she had clearly written with AI. To save me time, and to add my voice to the letter, I edited it with AI. It will be submitted to an admissions system that will screen it with AI. The loop was closed. I don't think any human was involved in the end-to-end process. As the movie credits say: "No animals were harmed in the making of this movie". All AI content should carry this warning. I call this the "Dead Letter Economy" - an economy in which content is generated by machines, transmitted through machines, and consumed by machines, so that documents circulate without any human mind being informed or changed at either end. The letter arrives, but nobody is home at either end. The Dead Letter Economy is already here. AI writes the research report, and AI reads the report. AI generates the assignment, and AI grades the assignment. How did we get here? For most of history, prose was expensive. A thoughtful recommendation letter signaled that a professor had invested scarce effort on a student's behalf, and effort was a credible proxy for genuine conviction. Generative AI drives the cost of fluent prose to zero, which destroys the signal while preserving the ritual. The letter still gets written. It just no longer means anything. When senders automate production, receivers rationally automate consumption. Unfortunately, this loop cannot last. Think about what is actually happening. I have three brief insights about my student. AI inflates them into two pages of flowery prose. AI at the other end deflates it back into three data points. We are paying inference costs on both ends to add and then remove rhetorical packaging. Markets will not tolerate that waste for long. Machine-to-machine channels will shed their prose and become structured data exchange. The recommendation letter becomes a signed attestation with verified claims. Such a collapse will force a healthy sorting. Protocol channels, where documents exist to satisfy procedure, were dead letters before AI arrived. Let them die. Transformation channels, where content exists to change a mind, must be nurtured and protected. Writing is thinking made visible. The document is the exhaust from a cognitive process, and the process is the product. I recommend a simple test. Ask of every document you produce or demand: does a human mind change because this exists? If yes, put humans at both ends and keep them there. If no, delete the document and expose the data. My student, by the way, is excellent. I know this because I taught her, challenged her, and watched her think. No AI was needed to form that judgment. The tragedy of the dead letter economy is that the judgment is real, and the letter that carries it is not. Where in your work are machines writing to machines while everyone pretends someone is reading?

Rishi Padhi liked thisRishi Padhi liked this5 of the top 10 CPG companies are using and evaluating POEM365. You can tell a paradigm is shifting by who moves first. It's never the whole market at once. It's the operators who feel the old way breaking before anyone else - the ones running $2B in growth spend through models that can tell them what happened but never what to do next. That's where the largest CPG companies in the world are right now. Living with 7 models telling 7 stories. A clear read on last quarter, and a blind spot on this one. Rishi Padhi reacted on thisRishi Padhi reacted on thisLast year, Sam Altman said AI would eventually handle 95% of what companies use marketers, agencies, strategists, and creative professionals for today, at almost no cost. He was probably right about the 95%. The research pulls, the first drafts, the resizing, the test logic, the media buys. Machines already do most of that better than the people who used to bill for it. But the 95% is plumbing. Necessary, invisible when it works, worthless on its own. The 5% is judgment. The decision about what a company actually is, the one no model can make for you. And here's the tell: the people building the tools that supposedly replace this work are the ones staffing up for it. Snowflake, GitHub, DocuSign, and Plaud are all opening senior brand strategy and creative roles. Sam Altman's own company is hiring a Head of Creative. That should tell you how load-bearing that 5% is. None of this is new. When a market fills with me-too noise, the human mind rejects the clutter. You don't win by being louder. You win by owning a distinct, simplified space no competitor can claim. Ries and Trout named it in 1969, and the proof stacked up fast. Avis was bleeding money behind Hertz until it stopped pretending to be the biggest. "We're No. 2. We try harder." First profit in thirteen years. The same move built Schweppes, 7Up, Volkswagen, Southwest. It carried consumer goods, automotive, airlines, telecom, electronics, one industry after another, every time the shelf got too crowded to tell anyone apart. Now it's AI, SaaS, and products flooding the market with sameness, and most founders are answering the flood with more of it. Growth machinery, GTM playbooks, and AI generating the average of everything already done. Optimizing the plumbing, brilliantly, while the one decision that would make all of it matter goes unmade. A few are starting to see it. They're quietly staffing for the opposite. I wrote about why that decision stays so easy to skip, and gets so expensive. History already ran this experiment. We know how it ends. Sridhar Ramaswamy 🙌 Allan Thygesen 🙌 Nathan Xu 🙌The Art of Scaling Beautifully Toward Nothing. The Art of Scaling Beautifully Toward Nothing.Ambar Mehrotra

Rishi Padhi liked thisRishi Padhi liked this"We're data-rich and decision-poor." It took me years to fully understand what she'd named, but when I did, it changed what we built. A CMO told me that in a room where 3 measurement systems had just handed her 3 different answers to the same question. All 3 were "right." Her measurement stack was built to produce truths in silos. Brand had its number. Performance had its number. Trade had its own. Every system was optimizing its own version of the truth, and none of them added up to a decision. Truth silos. That's what enterprises have been sold for 30 years. When the numbers disagree, the instinct is to buy a 4th system to settle it. She had, it just gave her a 4th answer. What she needed was one architecture that could hold the math of all of them at once, and return a decision instead of a debate. That conversation is the reason POEM365 exists. I still think about that CMO, paying more than anyone to end up more unsure than everyone. DM me to request a demo of POEM365 or reach out to us → growth@datapoem.com

As we build momentum towards NRF 2026 and progress our discussions with the CGF DDVC community, one message keeps coming back with absolute clarity: Product Innovation is being fundamentally rewritten. Across CPG manufacturers and retailers with ambitious private-brand portfolios, similar pressures are reshaping priorities: • Fragmented consumer demand • Rising sustainability and DPP expectations • Accelerating regulatory complexity • Intense competition from agile challengers and private labels • Innovation cycles that are simply too slow for the world ahead The direction of travel at NRF and CGF is aligned: The next decade belongs to organisations that build AI-first, insight-led, experiment-driven product engines. What the Leaders Are Moving Towards 🔹 Always-on consumer intelligence 🔹 Virtual formulation & simulation to cut R&D cycles 🔹 Sustainable & traceable design from day one 🔹 Compliance-by-design for claims, legal & regulatory 🔹 Agentic workflows that don’t just analyse they act 🔹 Rapid test–learn–scale loops instead of rigid gating Innovation is shifting from episodic launches to a continuous, intelligent system that adapts and scales globally. Where IBM Product 4.0 Fits As we work with leading CPGs and retailers globally, Product 4.0 has become the architecture enabling this transformation a suite of assets built to modernise how products are imagined, formulated, validated, and launched: 🔹 LEXI+ R&D & Regulatory Intelligence Transforms lab data, protocols and documentation into structured insights. Accelerates multi-market compliance and scientific workflows. 🔹 Formulae, AI Foundation Model for Formulation Predicts winning ingredient combinations, sustainability profiles and performance attributes. Dramatically reduces experimentation cycles. 🔹 Commercia, Legal, Claims & External Affairs Engine A unified intelligence layer that supports compliant claims, packaging copy and regulatory alignment across global markets. 🔹 IDEO, AI-Driven Creative & Content Orchestration Generates compliant, connected content linked to product data accelerating launch readiness. 🔹 Digital Product Passport (DPP) A traceability and transparency layer aligned with CGF’s sustainability and data-exchange agenda. Together, these assets create the AI-first product innovation system the industry needs. Why This Matters Now There is a clear call to action: ✔ Faster cycles ✔ Higher hit rates ✔ Lower R&D and documentation costs ✔ More sustainable, traceable products ✔ Regulatory readiness by design ✔ Stronger manufacturer retailer collaboration ✔ EBIT uplift This is no longer a concept it is happening now in some of the world’s most CPG and private-brand ecosystems. The path to 2030 will be shaped by those who build with speed, intelligence and differentiation. *Younger consumers to the wine industry*: Make it portable AND resealable. In our latest Business of Drinks episode, Britt West, Chief Commercial Officer at GALLO, explains why Barefoot is betting that 200mL TetraPaks will be the next big growth lever for wine. Today’s consumers — especially Gen Z, as he observes — are looking for: 🔸 Single-serve formats that fit their lifestyles and budgets 🔸 Resealable, grab-and-go convenience for occasions like parties, tailgates, and beach days 🔸 Great quality, with no trade-off in freshness or flavor With advances in TetraPak technology like tighter oxygen control and better product stability, wine can now travel and stay fresh in places that glass — or even cans — can’t. This is a wake-up call for every brand in the category: Format innovation is one of wine’s biggest untapped opportunities. 💥 🎧 Watch the full episode on Business of Drinks #BarefootWine #Gallo #BrittWest #WineInnovation #PackagingDesign #BusinessOfDrinks #DrinksBusiness #GenZConsumers #WineTrends #SingleServe #BeverageIndustry Scott Rosenbaum Caroline Lamb

As CFO of Bosslady Foods & The Dr. Bombay Ice Cream brand, I read this with real interest. When a global operator like Nestlé re-evaluates its ice cream footprint — including potential shifts around Froneri — it’s not just a portfolio decision. It’s a capital allocation signal. Large multinationals optimize for ROIC, earnings stability, and balance sheet optics. If a category no longer fits strategic return thresholds or complexity tolerance, divestment becomes rational — even in historically iconic segments. For smaller, focused competitors like Bosslady Foods, moments like this are instructive. Scale is powerful. But focus is lethal. Ice cream is not a side business for us. It’s the business. That means: • Faster innovation cycles • Tighter SKU discipline • Leaner working capital structures • More aggressive margin architecture at the unit level • Direct alignment between operations and brand equity When conglomerates rebalance portfolios, it often creates whitespace — in shelf presence, in innovation speed, and in consumer connection. Bosslady Foods isn’t optimizing a sprawling global portfolio. We’re optimizing one thing: winning in frozen. Excited to see how this unfolds — and even more excited about the opportunities disciplined competitors can capture in periods of strategic transition.
