The Complexity of the Quadruple Somersault via the amazing Olawale Kolawole! ▶ 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 The quadruple somersault was first successfully performed in front of a public audience on July 10, 1982, by 17-year-old Miguel Vazquez of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus in Tucson, Arizona. Prior to this, it was widely considered a myth or physically impossible. ▶ 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 During the downward swing, a flyer can reach speeds of 40 to 50 mph. Once they release the bar, the rotational speed takes over, requiring the acrobat to spin at roughly 130 degrees every tenth of a second to complete four full revolutions before losing altitude. ▶ 𝗖𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚-𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 At the absolute bottom of the trapeze swing, just before the upward launch, the flyer experiences an immense gravitational pull. The performer must withstand up to 10 Gs of force while maintaining their grip and preparing for the maneuver. ▶ 𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿 The trick requires absolute mathematical precision. The acrobat must release the bar at the perfect apex, snap into an extremely tight tuck to accelerate the spin, and abruptly break the rotation by stretching out at the exact fraction of a second needed to meet the catcher's hands. ▶ 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Because the human eye cannot process visual information fast enough during such rapid rotation, flyers often report experiencing a blurring of vision in the air. Riaz reposted thisIf you work in finance, insurance, healthcare, or government, you already know the AI pitch and the AI problem are the same sentence: "just put all your data here." You can't. Not because you're behind - because copying regulated content into a vendor index creates exposure you don't get paid to take on. A breach you didn't need. A subpoena target you created. Permissions you re-implemented and will eventually get wrong. SWIRL's whole design is the answer to that constraint: it searches your systems live and in place, honoring the permissions each one already enforces. Your security model stays the only security model. The data never moves. "Safe" isn't a feature we bolted on. It's the architecture.

Riaz reposted thisEvery time a lawyer gets caught filing a brief with hallucinated citations, law firms react the same way: tighten the AI policy and add more training. Both are reasonable. But a policy document can't teach a lawyer how to verify under deadline pressure, and most AI training stops at awareness. It doesn't build the instinct to catch a citation that looks right but isn't. That instinct comes from practice. From being put in a realistic scenario, having to decide whether to trust an AI-generated case summary, and getting pushed on the call. Not from a lunch-and-learn or a compliance quiz. #AltaClaro Chief Learning Officer Patricia A. At least not the one I find interesting. Whatever your views on Elon, the more interesting signal is what made it possible. An immigrant arrived in the United States. He imagined a future that many people thought was unrealistic. He found people willing to believe before there was proof. And over time, the impossible became possible. Having spent almost 30 years of my life outside the United States, one phrase I heard repeatedly was: “Prove it first.” There is nothing inherently wrong with that. Skepticism is healthy. Evidence matters. But building the future requires something else too. People willing to believe. People willing to dream with you. People willing to support an idea before every risk has been removed and every answer is known. That, more than anything else, is what drew me to Silicon Valley and the United States. Not because talent only exists here. It doesn’t. Talent is everywhere. But Silicon Valley has repeatedly demonstrated a remarkable willingness to back ambitious people trying to build things that do not yet exist. One of the most interesting things I’ve observed is that capital from all over the world often behaves the same way. The very same investors, institutions, and countries that are hesitant to back bold ideas in their own markets will enthusiastically invest in bold ideas in the United States. Why? Because they aren’t just investing in a founder or a company. They’re investing in an environment. An ecosystem with the talent, capital, networks, culture, customers, universities, and ambition needed to turn improbable ideas into reality. Reusable rockets sounded irrational. Electric cars sounded irrational. The internet sounded irrational. Many of today’s AI companies sound irrational. Until they aren’t. The trillion dollars is the headline. The real story is the environment that made it possible. A society strengthened by immigration. A culture open to new people and new ideas. An ecosystem where imagining the future is often rewarded rather than dismissed. Talent is everywhere. Belief is much rarer. And every now and then, that belief changes the future. He compares the way we should train lawyers to how world-class soccer teams prepare for the World Cup—scrimmaging, reviewing game film, and using data-driven coaching. The reality is that the traditional model—relying on time, observation, and proximity to senior lawyers—just doesnt work. With billable hour constraints and thinner mentoring, we need a better way to bridge the gap and build legal judgement skills. We’re treating professional development as a structured science at AltaClaro, rather than leaving it to chance.
