Blaine Fleming reposted thisBlaine Fleming reposted thisIt was December 2020 and we needed an $85mm loan acquisition facility for a blind-pool, Shariah-compliant, RETAIL strategy. I was told it was impossible and that that kind of capital wasn’t available. So I called my friend Chad Orcutt at JLL and explained the situation. He acknowledged that it wasn’t going to be easy, but “sure, let’s get after it.” After hundreds of calls and pitches and a bid matrix of two, he got us that capital and we were off to the races. Fast forward to today, we’re at nearly a $1b shopping center portfolio and I’m forever grateful for Chad running through a wall for us when he didn’t have to and could have just focused on multi and industrial. In typical Chad fashion (the man behind the scenes), I couldn’t get a better picture but one from the Philadelphia 76ers game last night should suffice. It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey and the friends made along the way. Thank you!🙏

Blaine Fleming shared thisAs many of you may already know, two current Marquette Lacrosse players, Noah Snyder and Scott Michaud, were killed in a car accident this past Friday. This tragedy has absolutely rocked the university, the alumni, and the greater lacrosse community. It certainly hits close to home as my brother, Griffin Fleming, and I were a part of this team for a combined 9 years from 2012 - 2021. This happened to have occurred while I was at the wedding weekend of a former MU teammate who had 10 groomsmen, 8 of which were former Marquette Lacrosse players. I saw this as a testament to the bonds formed among teammates and the lifelong friendships that come with them. On Friday, the current players lost two of those future lifelong friendships. As much as we wish we could, there is nothing any of us can say or do to fix this situation. The only way to help is to be supportive to the families, staff, community and especially the young men who lost two of their teammates and lifelong friends far too soon. The below link is to the Marquette Lacrosse Excellence Fund. It is traditionally used for donations toward the program from the alumni but, given the current circumstance, any donations will honoring Noah Snyder and Scott Michaud in the future, as well as assist in the travel expenses for the team to attend both of their services. The sale was effectuated through a Chapter 11 Section 363 process in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas. The transaction closed in July 2026. If you're newer to BTR, or just want to learn more about what makes this asset class different from multifamily, here's the breakdown. Multifamily is an apartment building. BTR is a detached home or townhome, built specifically to be rented rather than sold. Different products that produce different tenant behavior. I wanted to be sharp and make progress daily. I didn't want to waste a morning, let alone a full day, and one night of drinking always cost me the next one. That day mattered too much to give away. The part I missed was never the alcohol. It was the taste and the ritual, the cold beer in my hand while I cook.
