Two independent research teams. 243 million new hire records. The conclusion: remote work, not AI, is the primary driver behind the collapse in entry-level hiring. I am not disputing the data. What I am disputing is the conclusion. The researchers frame employer behavior as rational — training junior workers remotely is harder, so companies hire fewer of them. Rational, yes. Leadership, no. Those are two very different things, and conflating them is exactly how leaders escape accountability for a problem they created. I have watched this play out firsthand. The organizations that built real development infrastructure in distributed environments did not do it by accident. They built structured shadowing, intentional feedback loops, visible decision-making, deliberate sponsorship. It works — but it requires effort. That is exactly the point. Hallway osmosis was never a program. It was a gap leaders never had to close because the building closed it for them. That gap is now visible. Own it. This is not a Gen Z problem to solve. No personalization engine. It’s all about staying current and knowing your customers context. American knew a flight into Seattle ahead of Monday’s USA vs. Belgium World Cup match would be full of fans. Almost everyone on that plane was already buzzing about the game — the airline just leaned in. The result? Videos all over social media, fans praising the brand, and travelers tagging other airlines asking “where’s MY jersey?” Well done, American Airlines. Thank you Jed for the invitation to Boston College High School, the McNeice Centre for Ignatian Identity and Formation, the Lazarus ministry, and our community ~ to honor and accompany the veteran’s, the unhoused, the infants, and our friends living downtown ~ home to God. And thank you to the team at the St. Anthony’s Lazarus Ministry at the Shrine. This is a ministry that provides love and dignity to those who are going home to God alone. We are so grateful to the BC High young men for others for their quiet servant leadership. One differentiator is that after the funeral, our boys meet to reflect on the story of our friend in the Lord going home to God. AMDGBrian Higgins reacted on thisThrough the Lazarus Ministry, BC High students served as pallbearers for Mr. Charles Turner, who experienced homelessness and spent his final days in a mental health shelter. They honored his love of boxing and the humor the healthcare workers remembered him by, accompanying him on his final journey so that he would not go unseen. The ministry, carried out in partnership with St. Anthony Shrine and Frederick J. "Jed" Dolan P'22 — recently honored with the 2026 Pope Francis Award — ensures that those so often unnamed in life are named, prayed for, and remembered in death.

Brian Higgins reacted on thisBrian Higgins reacted on thisAfter 11 years as a head coach and six seasons leading the Boston College High School boys lacrosse program, you dream about this moment—the opportunity to finish a season as a State Champion. The countless hours of preparation, practices, film sessions, game days, victories, and heartbreaking losses were all worth it for one unforgettable moment at the end of the season. First and foremost, I thank God for placing me in the position to coach at such a prestigious school alongside an incredible group of young men who were willing to trust the process, work relentlessly, and sacrifice for one another. To my wife, thank you for your unwavering love and support throughout this journey. Thank you for encouraging me to pursue my passion while we continue building our family. None of this would have been possible without you. I’m also incredibly grateful to the companies and leaders I’ve worked for over the years who have given me the flexibility to pour everything I have into both my career and the game I love. Your support has never gone unnoticed. To my coaching staff and players—you are the reason for this success. The trust I have in my coordinators allows me to lead with confidence, and the relationships we’ve built with our players have allowed us to demand excellence while creating an environment built on trust, accountability, and love. Being recognized as the FIRST Black head lacrosse coach to EVER win a Massachusetts State Title in ANY division is an incredible honor. While I take pride in that accomplishment, what matters even more is what it represents. I hope it creates more opportunities for coaches who look like me and for people of color throughout our sport. Representation matters. Be intentional about diversifying coaching staffs and rosters. We all become better people when we’re exposed to different cultures, experiences, and perspectives. This championship belongs to every BC High lacrosse player who has worn the jersey—past, present, and future. Thank you to every parent, player, coach, and supporter who believed in our program and helped make this season one I’ll never forget. Forever a 2026 Massachusetts Division I State Champion.
