Starting on July 12, 23 Bath & Body Works products spanning body care, personal fragrance and home fragrance will land in more than 600 Ulta stores and online. The move comes as the $4 billion-plus retailer known for its scented hand lotions, shower gels and candles continues working through a multi-year turnaround after pandemic-fueled sales that peaked at nearly $8 billion in 2021 began slowing. LVMH: Why Desire, Not Luxury, Is the Real Business Model Brilliant analysis from Armando Zuccali on what LVMH is really selling — not products, but permanent desire. His description of LVMH as a federation of “feudal kingdoms” with full autonomy is exactly right. The outside world often sees 75 brands; what Arnault built is a system of identity creation, scarcity management, and emotional transformation. A few thoughts from my own experience: 🔸 LVMH is the global branding champion No one orchestrates heritage, aspiration, culture, and relevance with this level of mastery. 🔸 Behind the romance lies serious efficiency They carefully avoid cost efficiency that kills luxury — but operationally they are extremely disciplined in supply chain, retail execution, and capital allocation. 🔸 Decentralisation is not an accident The maisons work because autonomy creates ownership. I learned this early at Bertelsmann: capability, authority, and motivation must live together. 🔸 LVMH is a connector of worlds Artists, artisans, architects, partners, institutions — desire is built through networks, not only products. 🔸 They invest heavily in people Craft, leadership, and culture are treated as strategic assets, not HR topics. That’s why their brands stay relevant across generations. Nota bene: The Birkin bag mentioned is Hermès, not LVMH — but the point about scarcity as strategy remains fully valid. Armando’s conclusion is the right one: luxury is not about things, but about identity. And identity, when managed wisely, scales. #LuxuryStrategy #BrandLeadership #Decentralisation

KISS BEAUTY GROUP ACQUIRES PRESS-ON NAILS BRAND CHILLHOUSE Kiss Products, Inc., the world's largest manufacturer and distributor of salon-quality nails and lashes, has acquired Chillhouse, a trendy brand that has become a leader in press-on nails and self-care products. Founded in 1989, Kiss Beauty Group is best known for inventing the first glue-free press-on manicure technology. Chillhouse was founded by Cyndi Ramirez-Fulton in 2017 as a nail studio with its flagship in New York SoHo. The brand rose to prominence during the pandemic when salon closures forced many to pursue at-home nail alternatives. Its signature press-on nails retail at $14 per pack. The company’s products are available across 2000+ retail doors, 85% of sales come from wholesale with a majority from Target. Ramirez-Fulton says revenue has grown 75% YoY. Chillhouse has raised ~$2M in funding from Kinsley Partners, Palette Ventures among others. Ramirez-Fulton and her co-founder will continue running chillhouse as co-pilots while Kiss Beauty will power the brand’s growth through its distribution network. Deal figures undisclosed, recent acquisitions in the nail space include - Helen of Troy acquired Olive & June for $240M at 2.6x Sales and 11x EBITDA - Pacific World Corporation acquired Nails.INC for $40M

Ami Colé just closed and Freck shuttered but it’s hard to understand why… These were beloved beauty brands with cult followings, Sephora placement, founder buzz, and passionate communities. It’s hard to accept that the beauty boom as we knew it is over, and the market is correcting hard. Here's what's really happening: 1️⃣ Strategics stopped buying Major beauty groups are cutting brands from their portfolios instead of collecting new ones. When you have too many underperforming assets, turnaround becomes more valuable than acquisition. 2️⃣ Color cosmetics economics are brutal Inclusive shade ranges add massive complexity. You need 40+ SKUs just to serve everyone properly. That means inventory investment, slower velocity, and capital requirements most indie brands can't sustain. 3️⃣ The margin vs. moodboard problem Pretty packaging and viral marketing don't equal profitability. Without a hero product that people repurchase religiously, brands burn through funding trying to create the next viral moment. 4️⃣ The patience economy disappeared Investors and retailers want results in 12-18 months, not 3-5 years. The days of building slowly and sustainably are gone. What this means for beauty: The brands surviving will be the ones that operate lean, build actual repurchase behavior, and know exactly who they're for. At Fazit , this reality shaped everything from our streamlined SKU strategy to our focus on one hero product category to our emphasis on functional performance and rely less heavily on an unknown viral POP. Tolerance for brands without clear economics is shrinking. Which beauty brands do you think have the fundamentals to survive this correction?
