David Holmes shared thisI've been reflecting on TerraFlow Energy's oustanding pilot preview event. We've been working with the amazing team at TerraFlow for nearly a year now as they build and scale their vanadium flow battery technology. In my view, this is a game changing technology that will help AI Data Centers be active grid participants that enhance grid reliability, resilience, sustainability and affordability. We need to maximize the utilization of every electron - both on-grid and behind-the-meter - and this technology enables exactly that. As part of our work together and in partnership with World Wide Technology, TerraFlow has deployed a 1,200 GPU Dell PowerEdge cluster to enable them to demonstrate how their battery responds to the most challenging power characteristics of AI workloads. We will help them configure load simulations that replicate the extreme, millisecond-scale spikes and rapid drops in power consumption that AI workloads can generate. Looking forward to building out the pilot and scaling to the first gigawatt! #IWork4DellDavid Holmes shared thisToday SPAN unveiled XFRA, the first distributed data center designed to tap into existing infrastructure and underutilized power capacity to meet surging AI inference demand. I've been waiting a long time to be able to say that, and honestly I couldn't be more proud! The speed-to-power gap is one of the most urgent challenges facing AI infrastructure today. Compute demand is scaling rapidly, but the power infrastructure to feed centralized data centers can only scale at utility build-out speed. XFRA flips the model. Instead of building new large-scale grid connections for centralized data centers, we use underutilized capacity that's already available at homes and small businesses on the existing distribution network, to power a fleet of high performance, always-on AI inference compute Nodes. The SPAN smart panel is the only device that can make this possible: real-time circuit-level visibility and power control that unlocks this untapped power headroom. Cheaper. Faster. Benefiting customers, grid utilities and homeowners. I've partnered with Arch Rao since last May to breathe life into this idea and have had the privilege of leading this project alongside an incredibly talented small team since. Watching it go from slide-ware to field-deployed, revenue-generating prototypes, to today's announcement has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. We're piloting this year: 100 homes, 1,600 GPUs, ~1.25 MW of compute, and we're building toward 1+ GW of annual inference capacity starting in 2027. David Holmes reacted on thisDavid Holmes reacted on this14 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐩 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭. A week ago, I finally crossed the line at #Ironman Austria, in Carinthia, my home state. Back in 2012 I stood on the side of the road and watched this same race, and I knew right then I wanted to do it. So I went at it the way an impatient person does: too much load, too fast, without nearly enough knowledge about how the body adapts. The result was two injured knees and a recovery that took years. Looking back, that detour taught me what a startup founder and an Ironman actually have in common. It’s not throwing yourself at the big thing once, breaking, and walking away. It’s holding the big vision and taking consistent steps toward it. First half marathon with a real training plan, and doing every boring exercise the physios gave me. Then my first Olympic distance. Then a half distance. Each step a bit further than felt comfortable. The growth was slow but steady, and that steadiness finally brought me over the finish line a week ago. Same story with OroraTech. Big vision, aim high, but step by step — showing value consistently, and keeping the company healthy along the way. You don't get the finish line by skipping the work. Still a long way from having it all figured out. But last Sunday felt like proof the approach works. #anythingispossible #ironman #justdoit #startup The IRONMAN Group

I originally got it from Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality, a 660,000-word piece of rationalist fan fiction. …yes, I know how that sounds when I write it out. Here's the idea: if you can see that something needs doing, it's yours. There's no one coming to save you. Saying something aloud isn't enough. "I tried my hardest" isn't an answer you're allowed to give. This idea is the closest thing I've found to describing what being a founder actually is. When you delegate, you hand someone a role. A scope. A thing they're accountable for. And good people fill that role completely, sometimes going above and beyond. But filling a role and internalizing the whole problem are not the same thing. The person you delegate to owns their piece. You own whether the piece is even the right one, whether the pieces add up, whether any of it survives contact with reality. Nobody carries the whole weight but you. At Endolith, we actually ask our team for a version of this. We ask everyone to hold heroic responsibility around safety: to be the ultimate keeper of themselves, not to assume someone else has already checked, not to wait for permission to stop something that looks wrong. In a lab or field site full of potential hazards, "that's not my job" isn't nearly good enough. For me though, it goes much deeper than any one domain. You don't opt in. It emerges from you. The phone rings and somehow you already know it's for you (why in this metaphor people are calling on landlines, I don't know, bear with me). The other day I was alone in our new office, painting walls and hanging whiteboards. Yes, objectively it's not the highest use of a CEO's time, but I couldn't walk past a whiteboard propped up on the floor knowing that it needed to be hung. And how you do one small thing is how you do everything. Somebody had to decide that 70% of the world's copper being locked in low-grade ore was their problem. I noticed. So it became mine. Same instinct. Bigger rock (geology pun intended) The catch is that heroic responsibility has no off switch. You answer the call knowing, somewhere in the back of your head, that you might never be able to hang up. Yet you willingly pick it up anyway. #ChaoticGood #MicrobesAreHow

Today, SLB has delivered more than 1.3 GW of infrastructure and has been selected by a third hyperscaler to help deliver its newest data center project in Alberta, Canada. For our operations teams, this project by Meta for data center modular infrastructure manufacturing to building fit-out enables us to expand our North American manufacturing footprint beyond our existing capacity in the United States to an additional site in Canada. And as AI demand continues to accelerate, delivering data centers has become as much a manufacturing challenge as a construction one. This is exactly where our teams are focused, on driving quality, reliability, and speed at scale. David Holmes liked thisDavid Holmes liked thisOSDU has always sounded like a beautiful promise to me, a promise I cannot touch. And I stand to be corrected. One of the days at #EAGEAnnual I was manning the GET area as part of my volunteering activity when I noticed that some digital transformation talks were happening just a few metres away. As a curious Petroleum Data Manager I grabbed the headset, sat back at my stand, and started listening. One presentation stood out to me. Jorg Herwanger presentation on OSDU. It did not follow the usual “OSDU will transform everything” tone. It questioned the uncomfortable thing many people probably think quietly: Is OSDU really convincing practitioners of its usefulness and transformative power? The promise of OSDU is clear: reduce data silos, accelerate digital solutions, support innovation, separate data from applications, enable compliance and transparency. Beautiful. But Jorg’s argument, as I understood it, was that the reality still feels messy. He used well-log examples that made me sit up. A paper log from 1935 could still carry complete information, traceability, accountability, and decision-ready context. Then we fast-forward to digital files, OSDU examples, non-standard processing, inconsistent formats… and somehow, the hard work still seems to return to creating clean, complete, usable data. So I started asking myself: If OSDU is meant to reduce silos, why does it sometimes feel like another layer people now have to fight through? If it is meant to make data easier to access and use, easier for who? This question is personal for me. During my MSc thesis, I had to change my topic twice because I could not access the data I needed. I had been taught about OSDU as one of the important conversations around solving data silos in the energy sector. But when I needed data for research, the answer was still: “Use Volve.” So maybe this is where I need clarity. Maybe I have been mixing up “open platform” with “open data”. Maybe OSDU is doing exactly what it was designed to do within companies, but the academia is still not fully feeling that value. I asked a question at the conference around this. David Holmes from Dell Technologies who is on the OSDU board, acknowledged that academia is an area they are looking into, especially around how students and researchers can be better supported. I appreciated that response. Because this is not an attack. It is a real question from someone genuinely interested in digital transformation in the energy sector. If OSDU is reducing silos, show us where. If it is accelerating research, show us how. If it is open, help us understand what exactly is open: the platform, the standard, the APIs or the data? Sometimes the problem with digital transformation is not that the idea is bad. It is that the promise and the user’s reality are not yet speaking the same language. I am ready to learn. But please, educate me with examples that have worked #OSDU #DigitalTransformation
