One clear signal: the enterprises winning with AI aren’t just buying technology, they’re building foundations. That was the theme that emerged over and over at HPE Discover 2026 in Las Vegas, and I had the privilege of being in the middle of some incredible conversations that brought it to life. The highlight of the week was joining Krista Satterthwaite and John Carter on the big stage for our “Powering Your Innovation” Spotlight Theater session interviewing IT leaders from Ford Motor Company (Dulanjan Katuwawela), AMD (Katrin Schulenburg), Roche (John Mannion), and Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team (Michael Taylor) how they’re navigating AI, virtualization, and Edge transformation at scale. The conversations were genuinely inspiring. These aren’t companies experimenting, they’re executing. One of those conversations that reminds you how broad the impact of this work really is. From there the week was packed: Innovation Insights video series with Jason Newton, the Partner Growth Summit with top industry analysts including Steven Dickens, Patrick Moorhead, Daniel Newman, and Matthew Kimball, a customer panel with Kevin Filbert at Honeywell, Nemi G at Pacific Dental, and Nigel Mulholland at Nitec Solutions, an on-stage announcement with Praveen Jain on our Juniper Networks integration, and a great conversation with Justin Christiansen from Intel on AI inferencing and the future of software at HPE. Always good to spend time with the Six Five Media crew too — Matthew Kimball and David Nicholson. None of this happens without an incredible team. Thank you to Jack Richard, Amanda Sinele, Edwin Wise, Adrian Velez, Sara Black, Diane Parrish, Gerri Hinkel, Swati Warikoo, Michael Israel, and to every person supporting our showcase floor and demos behind the scenes. The brands that earn their confidence are the ones that can show proof, not just describe potential. At HPE Discover 2026, Patrick Moorhead and Daniel Newman sat down with Jennifer Temple, EVP and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, to break down how Hewlett Packard Enterprise is evolving its brand strategy, what the CMO mandate now actually requires, and how Temple is governing AI adoption across marketing without eroding customer trust. As Temple put it: "Marketers used to think of ourselves as awareness generators. Now I feel like marketers need to generate confidence." Key Takeaways: 🔹 Brand has shifted from an awareness function to a confidence signal. Customers taking bigger technology risks want to be associated with brands that have experimented, taken leaps, and can demonstrate what those leaps delivered. 🔹 Discover 2026 was redesigned around proof, not promise. HPE put 107 customers on stage and structured the event floor around verified customer outcomes, reflecting the consumer shift Temple sees as most underweighted by marketers right now. 🔹 The CMO role now spans brand, experience, data, and technology under a single mandate. Temple describes the evolution from awareness and sales support into a function that owns a full-funnel customer experience and measurable pipeline impact. 🔹 AI governance in marketing starts with a workflow question, not a content question. Temple's principle: identify what humans genuinely need to do first, then re-engineer workflows around that answer. AI is a great intern and a terrible CEO. 🔹 Durable customer relationships require peer-to-peer proof. Discover's value is that customers articulate possibilities to each other that a brand alone cannot credibly claim. 🔹 Marketing leadership now decides how the business operates, not just how it communicates. Temple's expanded CMCO mandate reflects how far the function has moved from its origins in awareness and brand aesthetics. The brands that build lasting customer relationships will be the ones that make the possible feel real, not the ones competing on reach and volume. And this year’s conversation was another great reminder of the impact the next generation of talent will have on the future. Here’s the advice I left them with as they continue their journey: - Stay curious. Ask questions, keep learning, and understand how your work connects to broader business priorities. - Be intentional. Focus your time and energy where you can learn the most and make the greatest contribution. - Build your network. Invest in relationships with people you trust and learn from. Jeanna Blatt liked thisJeanna Blatt liked thisAI is creating a new endpoint security problem: organizations need to govern how employees use AI without slowing adoption or adding another layer of disconnected tools. That is why Fortinet’s expansion of FortiEndpoint is worth watching. The combination of AI application visibility, controls for sanctioned and unsanctioned tools, native DLP, real-time user coaching and risk-based access reflects where the market is heading. Endpoint security is increasingly becoming the control point for managing AI usage, data exposure and user risk together. As I noted in the announcement: “Fortinet is addressing what many CISOs need now: visibility into AI usage, control over sanctioned and unsanctioned tools, protection against sensitive data leakage, and real-time coaching to help employees use AI responsibly.” The larger takeaway is consolidation. Delivering these capabilities through the same agent, console and license customers already use gives enterprises a more practical path to managing AI risk without introducing another standalone product. I appreciated the opportunity to contribute 650 Group’s perspective to the announcement. Jeanna Blatt liked thisJeanna Blatt liked thisUpdate: Gartner requested that I remove their Magic Quadrant image because of their licensing policy, but my opinions haven’t changed, so instead here’s Wayne’s Amazing Square™ My own completely independent view of the Conversational AI and Agentic AI platform market based on my own and the comments on my other post :) This isn’t based on an analyst methodology. It’s based on years of working with vendors, customers, implementations, product briefings and seeing what actually delivers value. There are plenty of vendors here that could move between categories depending on the use case, industry or customer requirements. That’s exactly the point. I’d much rather have a conversation about why a platform sits where it does than pretend there’s a single “correct” answer. Agree? Disagree? Tell me what you’d move and why for sure :) Congrats to all mentioned, happy to be wine and dined to move you around if you wish and open up all analyst and vendor events to be flogged for those that disagree

The work and developments affect the broader electronics ecosystem, not only consumer tech. Loved hearing the companies insights and implementation shared during the panel: ☑ There is dedicated focus on closing the loop with companies considering circularity from design to repairability to end of life. ☑ Companies are increasing use of closed loop metals and plastics. ☑ Circularity is not the responsibility for an individual company and one individual company cannot be responsible for industry circularity. This requires implementation of the ecosystem.
