Jeff Cardenas shared thisIt was great to attend the MACHINA Summit in Paris. It was an honor to share the stage with Peter Elstrom. This was possibly the highest density of robotics leaders assembled. Lukas M. Ziegler did a fantastic job as the Master of Ceremony. It was awesome to catch up with all of you and share perspectives about our growing industry. The dinner was truly something special with leaders like Carolina Parada, Jonathan Hurst, David Reger, Amanda McMaster,Jim Fan, Ali Agha, and David Amar all at one table. A shoutout to everyone in the arena working hard to build the future. I can’t wait to see how this conference grows and will certainly be back next year.

Jeff Cardenas shared thisAs kids we grew up dreaming about the future and what it would be like. That future is now here. We can all feel it. Things are accelerating faster than ever before. Will this new future be good or bad? That is up to us. IT IS TIME TO BUILD THE FUTURE WE WANT. Today we introduce Apollo 2 and Robot Park. Apollo is the hero of our story. In the future, we will introduce many other characters, but Apollo is the first. He is kind and helpful. He is the ultimate human helper. Apollo 2 is a prototype that we initially delivered to partners in early 2025. We have learned so much from it already. It is the foundation for our data collection and pilots. Robot Park is a dream we have had since the beginning. I always imagined it to be something like Willy Wonka’s Robot Factory. A magical place where we build and showcase the future. Today it is more like a data factory, tomorrow, who knows what it could become. At Apptronik, our goal has always been to build Robots for Humans. This is not a tagline but an ethos, a mission. To build robots that operate in service of humanity. Robots that improve the way we live and work. Our contribution back to our species. A special thank you to everyone who has been with us on this improbable journey. I believe a worthy goal is to make the kid version of yourself proud. What did you do with the limited time you have here on this planet? What kind of future will we leave our kids? I am so proud to get to work with all of our employees, partners and customers. We dedicate Apollo to Gerardo Bledt and Robot Park to Joshua Baer. The robots are coming, whether we like it or not. They will shape the future and our world more than any other technology. They will care for us here on Earth, and take us far beyond. Let’s make them beautiful, helpful, reliable, secure and safe. Let’s dream big about where we can go and what this new future can become. This is the Space Race of our time.

We’ve raised more than $935M in Series A funding, with a new $520M Series A-X extension round that brings our total capital raised to nearly $1B. I’m deeply grateful to the Apptronik team. Building Apollo has taken years of relentless engineering, creativity, and belief in what’s possible. This milestone belongs to every person who has helped bring that mission to life. I am especially proud to do this here in Austin, TX. I also want to thank our investors and strategic partners, those who have been with us from the beginning and those joining us now, for your trust and support as we scale production and expand deployments globally. Robotics is and will remain a long-term, trust based game. We thank you all for the trust you placed in us. Jeff Cardenas shared thisToday is a big one for Apptronik. I’m proud to announce that we have closed a $350 million Series A funding round—led by amazing investors at B Capital and Capital Factory, and supported by our partners at Google. This funding propels us into the next phase of our journey. Our team has been laser-focused on designing, developing, and commercializing humanoid robots for many years. Our dream has always been to build robots that work seamlessly alongside humans to change our world for the better. It has been an honor to do this alongside Nicholas Paine for nearly a decade. This road has not been easy, but I am incredibly proud to have worked together to push this industry forward. I can remember going to Harbor Freight to buy our first tools for our 300sq ft office/lab at UT when we were first getting started. We have come such a long way. A special shoutout to Luis Sentis. Apptronik spun out of his lab and Luis was the driving force behind founding and building the company. Luis has been an early pioneer in humanoid robotics and continues to push the boundaries today. A big thank you to our investors, partners, and customers for the ongoing support and collaboration. And a huge shout out to the Apptronik team for turning science fiction into reality. Lots of work ahead. We’re just getting started.

The reason we do this is because, as humans, our time here is limited. We aim to build tools to help give us back more time. We were reminded of how fleeting time is this summer when we lost our beloved Dr. Gerardo Bledt Gerardo was the Head of our Locomotion and Controls Team at Apptronik. He tragically passed away in a freak accident. It rocked our team to the core. He was a friend, colleague, and force of nature. He was a maestro with robots, and helped show all of us what was possible. We dedicate Apollo and our work to Gerardo. We miss you Gerardo and will do our best to carry on your legacy. Do you dare to go in? How much can you lose? How much can you win?” - Dr. Seuss Josh had this way of making the world feel bigger. Bigger ideas. Bigger possibilities. Bigger questions. He was constantly pushing people to think beyond what they thought was possible, and I think so many of us carry that mindset because of him. He gave me this book that lights up when you open it last year, and at the time it felt like a sweet note for the years ahead. Now it feels like a significant life reminder. It’s about the moments with no map - when most of what’s ahead could be dark and uncertain, and you have to decide whether to play it safe at the edge or dare to step into the unknown. Every real choice risks something. But that risk is the only road to anything worth having. That was Josh. He lived in the unmarked streets, dared to go in every time, and bet on people before anyone knew who they’d become. And of course, there is a light at the end of the message the moment you open that book. Some of my favorite memories are the random ones. Talking about the latest sneaker drop and somehow ending up matching shoes at work. The out-of-the-blue texts about a crazy thing he’d just done with AI. Trusting me to run his VIP events because he knew I cared about every little detail as much as he did. He intentionally created serendipity. And he was such a giver. That generosity didn’t stop, even after he was gone. A month and a half ago, Josh ordered me a gift to celebrate my five years at Capital Factory. I received it a week after he passed. Even now, that’s still so him. Every time I see a Texas company do something incredible, I’ll think of him. Every time a founder takes a chance on an idea that seems impossible, I’ll think of him. Every time a rocket launches, someone reaches the moon, or humanity pushes a little further into space, I’ll think of him. Every time technology changes someone’s life for the better, I’ll think of him. His fingerprints are on so much of what makes Austin, and Texas as a whole, special. And on so much of the future that’s still being built. Thank you for believing in people, Joshua Baer. We miss you. ❤️

Nick Spiller did a great job as the interviewer and has done so much for Capital Factory over many years.Jeff Cardenas reacted on thisSeveral weeks ago, I attended an event at Capital Factory which celebrated the launch of serial entrepreneur Brett Alexander Hurt's new book and honored the life and legacy of Joshua Baer. His friendship, mentorship, and belief in entrepreneurs helped shape Brett's journey and Austin's startup ecosystem. Joshua had bought copies of Brett's book, Love Conquers Fear, for every attendee, which is yet another example of how much he cared about giving back. Like many other members of the Austin startup ecosystem, I wouldn't be where I am today without Joshua Baer. I remember back when I was a high school student and had the opportunity to attend an event at Capital Factory for students to receive feedback on their business ideas. At that point, I was preparing to compete in a business competition, and the feedback I received was invaluable for both my team and me. It's crazy to think that I still have it saved in my email: 1. Have a referral button on our app 2. Offer incentives, such as free month of the pro version, for when one of our customers refers a friend to our app (could be lite or pro, we should discuss this) 3. For added security, we can send a safety pin to the users of the app and once they type in the pin within a certain time, it shows that they are safe. According to an entrepreneur with children, he said that if he used the app, this would make him feel safer that his kids were safe. From the moment I walked in the door to the moment I left, everyone at Capital Factory was so welcoming. It was inspiring to me as a student that successful entrepreneurs would take the time to pay it forward. It's a memory that will stick with me for a long time, and I'll always be grateful for the legacy that Joshua Baer cultivated.
