Jon Meyer shared thisLast week, I celebrated my 10th anniversary as CTO of CAPTRUST. I'd like to think I look mostly the same—maybe a little older and leaner, but with the same fantastic hairstyle! But so much has changed at CAPTRUST that it’s hard to remember just how far we’ve come. With a little help from the wayback machine, here’s what stands out as my 10 years line up closely with our second 10-year strategic plan. During that time, we’ve (roughly): - Grown our client base ~10x - Increased revenue ~10x - Grown our team ~6x - Increased enterprise value ~25x Why has this happened? Two words: culture and teamwork. I’m grateful and honored to work alongside visionary entrepreneurs and colleagues committed to making CAPTRUST the most impactful firm in financial services. Quite a weekend for him with Step 1 on Friday followed by the RAM Clinic on Saturday and Sunday. #RAM #USCSOM #CAPTRUST #CCFJon Meyer shared thisOnce a year, the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville transforms into a place where medicine is not only taught, but practiced. This past weekend, partnering with Remote Area Medical, we hosted a free medical clinic where we were able to provide $236,318 worth of medical, vision, and dental care to 398 patients. It was heart warming to see the level of support we received to for this clinic, from providers generously donating their time, local businesses helping fundraise and providing volunteers with food and drink, and the School of Medicine Greenville and Prisma Health Simulation Center generously donating their space for this event. I always say this clinic is my favorite event at our school, and I have to thank my co-director Katherine McCann, as well as Gracelyn Metts, Lesley Strickland, April White, Isabel Stringfellow, Elizabeth Moshier, Sonia Garg, Meredith Morgan, Olivia Pelaez, Sarah Plexico, and Dr. Jennifer Springhart (in no specific order) for working so tirelessly to make this year’s clinic a reality. Lastly, I owe a special thanks to my dad, Jon Meyer, for helping us obtain a grant from the CAPTRUST Community Foundation to further its mission of enriching the lives of children in the communities that it serves.

Jon Meyer liked thisJon Meyer liked thisMicrosoft just spent $2.5 billion to copy a 20-year-old idea. Unpopular take: it's the smartest money they'll spend all year. Run the math. 6,000 engineers embedded inside customers, at roughly $400K a head fully loaded, is about $2.4B a year in people. Microsoft didn't buy a product. They bought the one thing a competitor can't clone overnight: bodies inside the account. Wall Street read the launch as a defensive scramble. Stock down 21%. Copilot is still fighting for renewals. So they chase the "forward-deployed" model Palantir Technologies invented two decades ago, days after Amazon put up $1B and Anthropic lined up $1.5B. I read it differently. I spent decades selling Microsoft into the enterprise. I built a partner into a nine-figure business. Microsoft has never won on the flashiest product. It wins on the people who make the product show up in a number that the customer's boss can see. Now watch the timing. Frontier Company didn't land alone. Microsoft is also pushing its own MAI models into general availability, quietly replacing OpenAI and Anthropic in Copilot, Excel, and Outlook to cut its own costs. MAI-Thinking-1 reportedly matches Claude Opus 4.6 on coding, at a fraction of the cost. Put the two together. Commoditize the model. Own the deployment. Microsoft is doing both in the same month. The model is a commodity. The deployment is the moat. Trust is the renewal. The Wall Street Journal says Microsoft needs to carve its own path in AI. This is the path. And it's the same path that built Azure. The lesson for founders: stop shipping the model. Own the layer nobody can rip out. Defensive scramble, or the smartest move on the board?
