The customer purchased the Varonis Extended Event Retention License when they moved to SaaS from on-premise version of Varonis DatAdvantage. We found out from Varonis support that only the last 180 days worth of events are ever available online. Earlier events must be retrieved by Varonis support in a format that does not get loaded into the Varonis platform. The data must be manipulated by a third party tool of your choosing. Has anyone successfully used these JSON files and what tools did you use to analyze the data? #Varonis

At renewal, many customers are being told their only path forward is SaaS migration—whether they’re ready or not. Some of the quotes from frustrated users: “We had just invested in new on-prem infrastructure, only to be told we’d have to migrate or walk away.” “We had to rush into a migration project we hadn’t planned for—timelines and budgets just didn’t align.” “The lack of communication and the surprise activations of features like MDDR really damaged trust.” If you’re evaluating your options: * Check your renewal dates and start conversations early. * Pressure-test whether SaaS fits your operational and compliance requirements. * Keep alternatives in mind—vendors like Lepide, BigID, Cyera, or Concentric are being actively evaluated by others. Decades of proprietary research live in its source code and design files, and a single one in the wrong hands can save a rival years of R&D. Protecting those assets gets even harder the moment an employee walks out the door. Mapping where that data even lived meant sifting through SIEM logs and endpoint folders: the equivalent of 10 people-months. A small security team leaned on rules-based controls that could never keep pace. Then they deployed Concentric AI. Within that window, a departing senior engineer started moving large volumes of data to cloud storage. The system flagged it and revealed sensitive project specs and proprietary algorithms. It identified 30 to 60 days of abnormal behavior from several employees, some accidental and some deliberate. Detection that once took 10 people-months dropped to hours: a 90% reduction. CISO Sreeni Kancharla compared it to switching on a spotlight in a dim room, revealing risks the team never knew existed.
