Kate H. שיתף את זהAs my journey at Corporate Office comes to an end, I reflect on the past three and a half years that have flown by. It feels like just yesterday that I stepped into Claridge’s as an Assistant Human Resources Manager, unaware of the incredible journey ahead. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Rachel Hammond, Assoc CIPD, who took a chance on me despite my lack of experience and welcomed me into the Maybourne family. She has been a role model throughout my time here, and I genuinely would not be where I am today without her guidance and support. I leave with what was once a manager now turned incredible friend. I also want to thank Varinder Singh and Sally Lloyd for believing in me and bringing me to the Corporate Office. Their guidance, support, and humor have been invaluable, and I look up to them as leaders who have earned respect throughout the hotels and corporate office. To the HR and L&D teams, you are some of the most inspiring people I have had the pleasure to work with. Our days were filled with laughter, and it’ll be hard to find people as incredible as you to work alongside. Lastly, to all the amazing individuals I have met during my time at Maybourne, I’ve loved making the magic happen alongside you all and can’t wait to follow the journeys of the hotels and all of your careers that will grow along with it. Hopefully not a goodbye, but rather a farewell 👋🏽 Next stop - NYC!

Kate H. שיתף את זהMy final month in London has officially begun — and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t bittersweet! Nearly three and a half years at Maybourne have flown by. It’s been an incredible chapter of my career, filled with opportunities, experiences, and people who have shaped me both professionally and personally. I’ll save my full thank-yous for closer to my last day, but I’m immensely grateful for everything Maybourne and it’s incredible team and leaders have done for me. But with one door closing, another opens — I’m beyond excited to be heading to New York City to start a whole new chapter. With that said, I’m turning to my network: if you know of any exciting opportunities in New York, I’d love to hear about them. I have full right to work in the US and I’m ready to hit the ground running — whatever the right role looks like. Thank you all so much in advance for your support. It means the world. 🗽

When Queen Alexandra of Yugoslavia was about to give birth to Crown Prince Alexander, the exiled royal family faced a challenge: their heir needed to be born on Yugoslav soil to preserve his claim to the throne. Winston Churchill's solution was unprecedented. The British Prime Minister declared our Suite 212 Yugoslav territory for one day, with Yugoslav soil reportedly placed beneath the bed. For 24 hours, our suite became a sovereign nation. Today, the Prince Alexander Suite reflects this remarkable heritage through gold leaf accents, hand-embroidered silks, and features inspired by the Yugoslav coat of arms alongside original Victorian plasterwork. From royal births to diplomatic history, Claridge's continues to be where extraordinary stories of distinction unfold.

I've finally overcome my fear of driving the 6-lane freeway. 2. 90 countries, 600+ cities — and LA still has the BEST radio stations in the world. 3. The hotels are as unique from each other as the city is vast — but they all share one thing: an obsession with elevating both the guest experience and the employee experience. That second part is easy to miss as a traveler, but it shows. You can tell when a hotel invests in its people — it's no surprise some employees have stayed their entire careers with one hotel. Every visit to LA comes with its own education. This time it came from the conversations — hotel partners and industry peers who understand that the guest experience starts with the employee experience. Last week I had the privilege of delivering The Art of Coaching to the Maybourne Developing Leaders programme. Coaching is a topic I genuinely care about because of the impact it can have on individuals, teams and organisations. One of the biggest mindset shifts is recognising that coaching isn’t about having all the answers or telling people what to do, it’s about asking the right questions and helping people discover the answers within themselves. The conversations throughout the day were insightful, challenging and inspiring. Together, we explored how coaching doesn’t just improve performance; it develops lifelong skills such as self-awareness, critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making and the confidence to achieve meaningful goals. One of the things I enjoy most is taking a topic I’m passionate about, tailoring it to the needs of the learners and creating practical experiences that translate into real skills for real people in the workplace through experiential learning. And, if I’m honest… I have a great deal of fun doing it too! #lifelonglearning #coaching
