I left my engineering role in Bengaluru to work with my father’s dental lab and saw the inefficiencies firsthand — labs juggling multiple scanner portals, downloading patient scans manually, and struggling with fragmented workflows. That experience led to building DentNode — a platform designed to streamline the workflow between dentists, labs, and digital dentistry tools. Excited to share that Thread Factory has raised ₹1.5 Cr in pre-seed funding from ajvc to solve a massive problem in India’s fashion supply chain. We are building for a part of India’s $100B+ fashion market that is massive, but still works in a very old-school way. A lot of sourcing still happens through calls, WhatsApp messages, and scattered coordination between retailers and manufacturers. Which also means many buying decisions are still made without a clear sense of what is actually selling. And that gap becomes even sharper in the unorganised side of the market. While brands and online marketplaces have brought structure to one part of fashion retail, the remaining 65% still operates with very little technology. That is the part of the market we are building for. At Threadfactory, we are building a tech-first ecosystem for this supply chain – helping retailers source quality, trend-right designs more easily, while helping manufacturers plan production with better demand visibility. Our B2B platform allows retailers to discover products and place orders directly, while also capturing the commerce data needed to bring more intelligence into the system. Over the past year, we have seen early signs that this is solving something real: ~₹4 Cr ARR 60% average monthly repeat retailers 40+ manufacturers For me and Vivek, this round was a very meaningful milestone. We received a term sheet from Aviral within 10 days of our application, and that felt incredibly validating at this stage of the journey. This was when we did not even have a product, and were at zero revenue. What stood out even more was the clarity he brought to the conversation. He quickly understood the space and pushed us to think harder about what we are building and where it can go. The journey till here has not been easy. There has been a lot of learning, a lot of back-and-forth, and many moments of rethinking. But that process is also what made our conviction stronger. This round has helped us build a stronger team, improve the platform, and continue building for an industry that really needs better systems. AI coding tools made engineering 10x faster overnight. But they weren’t built for Designers. It’s ironic that the people who care most about designing products are the ones that don't have an AI product designed specifically for them. Today they’re stuck with a bad tradeoff: use AI coding tools and sacrifice precision, or use a traditional design canvas that’s separated from the real product. When I was leading the Design team at Dropbox, I saw firsthand how much of a designer's vision gets lost on the path to production. A designer draws in vectors and exports PNGs for engineers to replicate in code, but it never turns out quite right. That was a decade ago, and somehow this handoff process is still the norm. I've felt this gap ever since I studied product design in grad school. And AI hasn’t given us an elegant solution…yet. As product designers themselves, Aditya Bandi and Kushagra Sinha decided they'd had enough. So they built Noon — the first “dual canvas” design tool rebuilt from the ground up, by product designers, for product designers. It works entirely on your real codebase, so you can design how a product looks and how it works in the same canvas. I was blown away the first time I saw their demo. This is an insanely hard product to get right technically, and they've solved a bunch of problems that have tripped up other teams in this space: sub-second AI edits without sandboxing, bi-directional sync between your design system and source control, and a drawing canvas that feels familiar to Figma users. A designer can paste any live component onto the canvas and instantly get an editable frame with all the code preserved. AI takes care of the drudgery, like autocompleting screens in a flow or imagining alternate layouts. I'm pumped to back Aditya and Kushagra as they announce Noon today with a $44M raise from First Round Capital, Chemistry, Scribble Ventures, SV Angel, Afore Capital, and Elevation Capital, plus some of the biggest names in design (like Katie Dill, Ian Silber, Soleio and Julie Zhuo).
