Rest in Peace "Bride"Michael J Rowley shared thisDARLA HUNTER ROWLEY October 24, 1962 – March 17, 2025 With heavy hearts we inform you of the passing of Darla Kay Hunter Rowley, lovingly known as “DHR” to many, on March 17, 2025. She was 62. Darla was born October 24, 1962 in Albuquerque, NM, where she developed the resilience, work ethic, and creative spirit that would define her life. Darla’s journey was marked by ambition and passion. A graduate of Rio Grande High School, she went on to earn a degree in Fashion Merchandising from the Bauder Fashion Institute. Even in her early years, she was driven—working at a farm stand at 14, announcing "Blue Light Specials" at Kmart at 16, and buying her first home by 21. Her 24-year career with Kmart took her across the Southwest, where she rose to the role of district manager. She assumed roles in multiple cities, buying and transforming homes in each market. In 1995, Darla met the love of her life, Michael J Rowley, and they married the following year, beginning a beautiful journey together that spanned 29 years. In 2002, they welcomed their son, Hunter Maximus Rowley (Max) whom Darla adored and fiercely supported in every endeavor, rarely missing a soccer game or school event. When Kmart relocated its headquarters to Chicago, Darla saw an opportunity to transform her lifelong love for home décor into a thriving business. Starting with reclaimed furnishings, homemade window treatments, and a pick-up truck, she built Impact Home Staging Experts and Impact Interior Design Service from the ground up. Today, her vision and determination have left a lasting mark on the industry, having grown the company to 16 employees, four large trucks, and over $1+ million in annual revenue. Darla was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018. With characteristic strength and determination, she faced the disease head-on, stepping back from daily business operations to focus on her health. After a period of remission, she was diagnosed Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and resumed treatment. She fought her battle with unwavering courage and grace, supported by the love of her family, friends and the team at Impact. Darla’s life was one of resilience, creativity, and boundless love. Whether she was transforming a house into a home, cooking a delicious meal without a recipe, building a business from the ground up, or simply sharing a bottle of wine with friends, she left an indelible impact on everyone she met. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. We will gather on April 12th from noon to 4 pm at A.J. Desmond & Sons in Royal Oak for visitation and a short memorial service. A celebration of Darla’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Darla’s memory to Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County and Humble Design Detroit Rest easy, Darla. Your light will shine on in every beautifully-staged home, every shared glass of wine, and every heart you touched.

After my LinkedIn post about it went viral, their EVP emailed me to say they were using my experience as a case study without my consent and warned me that “recruiters would be crawling my LinkedIn profile.” A veiled threat dressed as a heads-up after their own AI HRIS recruiting system failed. ⚠️ Keyword Bingo -- I witnessed a recruiter publicly trying to match a Potbelly Sandwich strategy executive to a VP of Corporate Strategy role at Honeywell Aerospace. Because toasted sandwiches and jet engines are so similar. 🤣 And folks keep telling ME to "pick a lane." ⚠️ Roller Coaster Career Path -- Today’s AI-powered job match: Ride Operator at Six Flags for $12 an hour. A thrilling next step for someone who has a Duke MBA, Fortune 100 digital transformation experience, and enterprise AI governance expertise. I'm not convinced the recruiting industry is screening for fit. It’s just spinning a roulette wheel. Michael J Rowley liked thisMichael J Rowley liked this4 years ago I left Finance of America Companies. My job was to get them organized and optimized. We merged 25 companies together in about 5 years, went through a SPAC to become publicly traded. Consolidated major technology platforms and made them bulletproof. We stood up a phenomenal IT practice in the Philippines with the help of some incredible people. We sailed through covid without missing a beat. My mentor and leader Patti Cook was retiring and it just wouldn’t be the same without her. It was time to move on. I started doing fractional CTO work. Met some great clients and I was having a blast when Tim Boisvenue asked me to come back to Ally to tackle a special project. I’d left Ally about about 10 years earlier and wanted to see how the story progressed. On my 3rd day here Sathish M. sat down with me and asked me to do 3 things. Reduce our spend on o11y tools, consolidate our tools, help us get better. I underestimated the work by a lot and it took the better part of 2 years to go from a dozen to a couple, shutting down some big brands in the name of essentialism. I rebuilt relationships with key stakeholders, shifted the team from tool based silos to plan-build-run, from being the monitors to being the educators on observability. I was getting ready to move on when Donna Hart asked me to help with Women In Technology, which is something i’m very committed to. She felt we needed more male allies to be part of the program and I couldn’t say no. I spent a year and a half helping Susan Siegrist Thomas, CISSP, Stacey Green, Tiona Smith, Shanta Dutta, Teri Noren Ellis, Sandra Byrd, and a lot of other incredible men and women build up WIT. We rolled out a new program titled, “Women Owning Work” Wednesdays when would showcase the everyday woman and her journey, her challenges, her successes. The program was a hit and we had record attendance. But now that program is up and running and while there is always more to do, it’s time to get back to being a CTO, I’ve just got too much main character energy to do otherwise. For me the side quest is over and it’s time to get back to the main quest. Thank you everyone at Ally, I'll stop by in another 10 years to see how the story is progressed!

Michael J Rowley reacted on thisMichael J Rowley reacted on thisOn December 6, 2024, I wrapped up a meaningful 35-year career in corporate technology operations, most recently at Ally. It was an enriching journey, and I’m deeply grateful to the leaders, colleagues, and friends who supported me throughout my career and continue to be part of my story today. I hadn’t posted anything here since then—not because I didn’t have news to share, but because this next chapter has been both deeply personal and transformational. Late in 2023, our son was diagnosed with Down Syndrome Regression Disorder (DSRD), a rare and often misunderstood condition that can lead to a sudden loss of skills in individuals with Down syndrome. Watching a loved one regress is emotionally challenging and often a lonely struggle. It demands constant, attentive, and adaptive support—and at the time, the resources to help navigate it felt very limited. One of the most difficult challenges was finding the right caregiver support. Traditional systems couldn’t meet the flexibility and human connection we needed. That journey changed everything for me. Earlier this year, I launched my own business, operating under the Hallmark Homecare brand, serving families in Ann Arbor, Brighton, Livonia, and Plymouth. Hallmark’s model resonated deeply with my own experience: families stay in control, caregivers are thoughtfully matched, and relationships—not just schedules—are prioritized. My personal “why” is simple: to build trusting relationships so that people find their purpose. This isn’t just a business for me—it’s personal. I’m excited (and a little humbled) to finally share this journey here on LinkedIn.
