Access to quality healthcare is critical to good health — yet for the 60 million individuals who live in rural America, timely connections to specialty care remain significantly limited compared to urban areas.   At TeleMed2U, supporting rural communities is not new to us. Since our founding in 2011, we have been dedicated to increasing specialty-care access for rural populations across the country. Our story began in rural clinics — partnering closely with Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) and Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) to eliminate long wait times, reduce unnecessary travel, and bring specialty expertise directly into communities that have historically lacked it. Rural healthcare in America is at a pivotal moment. Earlier this year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services launched the multibillion-dollar Rural Health Transformation Program — one of the most significant federal investments in rural care delivery in decades. In a new Route Fifty op-ed, Principal Shawn Daugherty argues that its success depends on something often overlooked: reliable, affordable high-speed broadband. Connectivity is now fundamental to care delivery. Without it, rural patients and providers cannot access electronic health records, participate in telehealth, or use remote monitoring tools, limiting the very innovations the program is designed to advance. Shawn underscores that broadband access and digital literacy are essential determinants of health, and that investments in digital infrastructure must be integrated with rural healthcare strategy from the start. 🚜 New Policy Briefing: What Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS) $50B Rural Health Investment Signals for Implementation – Over the holiday break, CMS announced $50 billion in Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) awards across all 50 states, alongside the launch of a new Office of Rural Health Transformation to oversee long-term implementation.     This is not a one-time funding announcement. It signals a sustained, state-led effort to modernize rural health systems through shared infrastructure, interoperability, workforce stabilization, regional care models, and readiness for value-based payment. We’ve published a new briefing (linked in the comments) from Karen M. The panel, “Reimagining Healthcare Delivery—From Concepts to Scalable Realities,” explored crucial questions about the future of care delivery. Panelists also discussed what’s working and what’s not working with emerging tech-focused approaches in healthcare delivery.
