States are moving in a positive direction on requiring transparency around deepfakes, but provenance isn't going to cut it for enterprises and governments, let alone actual end-users. The deepfakes being deployed in call systems, in video conferencing platforms, and everywhere else are by and large being made by tools that don't utilize provenance watermarking. (If they do, they're being bypassed pretty easily by even the least savvy uses.) It's exciting to see legislation take a first step like this, but Reality Defender customers know long ahead that waiting on such movements isn't going to wait for such legislation, especially on a federal level. Solutions exist today, and will be ubiquitous tomorrow.
