It's not a normal distribution with most teams a little worse or better than average and a few great ones. It's a power law. The best teams, the top 20%, are far better than the rest. Research on 200k teams, from sports to politics, shows this. 70% of the time, team performance follows a power law. Star teams outperform average ones by a lot. Recognizing this can transform how we build and manage teams. Dyson has always been someone who inspired me as he builds in the intersection of design, human behaviour, engineering and innovation. It’s quite overwhelming to think of such a successful person as a man of failure and in that scale. But it is also very inspiring and humbling to think of the engineering and innovation process as a failure driven process which is essentially a learning journey. With success rate of 1 to 5126 ratio, that’s 0.019% success rate shows how resilient and somewhat hopeful we all need to be on our very own entrepreneurial journeys. Innovation happens when you shake things up. PS: Revolution also has the word "Evolution" in it too.Subhashish Acharya shared thisTired of the "yes" parade in team meetings? Want to shake things up? Look no further than cognitive diversity. Research shows that people tend to prefer working with others who think like them and share similar values. But here's the problem with that: it leads to groupthink, stifles creativity, and can limit the range of solutions that are considered. Instead, we need to embrace cognitive diversity, which means forming teams of people who are likely to disagree. Look for people with different beliefs or personalities. Seek out colleagues with different training backgrounds, from different parts of the country, or with different levels of risk tolerance. The key is to form a team with diverse perspectives and skills that complement each other. Of course, we don't always have the luxury of reshaping a team to maximize disagreement. But that doesn't mean we're out of options. We can create cognitive diversity by encouraging open dialogue, inviting dissenting opinions, and actively seeking out alternative viewpoints. #HumanResources #Innovation #Management #PersonalDevelopment #Culture #Leadership #Diversity #BehavioralScience

The field was bare. The soil was hard. Nobody knew our name. Together, we built a garden. From PLM to Planning, Pricing, Market Intelligence and PXM. From one country to the world. From 7 clients to thousands. We prepared the soil before planting. We grew new varieties, season after season. We weathered the storms and harvested beyond what we imagined. It’s been an incredible journey of growth, impact, and great people. Huge thanks to the teams, clients, and partners who made it all happen. The best gardeners I could have hoped for.
