But this one captures exactly how my heart feels about the experience. When our girls first moved halfway around the world, I worried that being so far away from them for so long might quite literally break my heart. Instead, I found myself filled with joy as I listened to their stories, watched them navigate challenges while we slept, followed their adventures through photos, and saw them support one another in the way only sisters can. Being reunited was pure happiness. I treasured every moment, every new experience, and every memory we created together. What surprised me most, though, was an insight I hadn't expected. Our daughters are slowly becoming the grownups. The experts. The ones who understand how this world works in ways we don't yet. For three weeks, they were completely in charge of our well-being. They guided us through unfamiliar cities, translated, planned, navigated, and patiently answered endless questions as their father and I wandered along behind them experiencing so many things for the first time. They were smart, thoughtful, caring, and incredibly capable. Rather than resisting that change, we embraced it. And in doing so, they reminded me of something important: no matter how much experience we accumulate, there is always more to learn.
