Shreyans Parekh shared thisWe are excited to announce our Supply Decarbonization Initiative, which will power ads executed on the Viant Technology DSP with 100% renewable energy. An expansion of our flagship sustainability program #Adtricity, which launched in Feb 2023, this effort will curb emissions across our greater supply chain and help advertisers reduce their carbon footprint. The label, which shows up as a small green leaf in the corner of an ad (similar to the AdChoices label), communicates to viewers that the ad was powered with renewable energy as part of Viant’s Adtricity sustainability program. We are partnering with Scope3 to measure the emissions by channel and impression level and then neutralizes that footprint through the purchase of renewable energy certificates (RECs). I am thrilled to announce my new role as VP, Corporate Development at Viant! After having spent several years scaling and enabling enterprise SaaS companies through M&A, corporate venture, strategic partnerships, and GTM initiatives, I have developed a deep appreciation for how critical a unique and holistic ad platform fueled by first-party data is for delivering exceptional customer experiences. Viant is a pioneer in people-based advertising — the next evolution in programmatic technology — providing marketers and media owners the tools to move beyond third-party cookies, enrich their first-party data, reach target audiences across emerging channels, and measure success in today's advertising landscape. As a longtime admirer of Viant and its positioning in the #AdTech ecosystem, I understand the power of the only omnichannel DSP built with programmatic traders in mind. I have a lot of respect for the incredible work the team has done to establish a strong foundation for us to build on to deliver individual and household-level advertising so that our customers can more effectively reach their target audiences. Shreyans Parekh liked thisShreyans Parekh liked thisAs an 18-year-old from Minnesota who had just arrived at Cornell University, I knew it was going to be special. What I could not have predicted is that in my first week on campus, I would meet Deepak Bapat and forge one of the most meaningful relationships of my life, one that would change my path and eventually help me cofound Tabs Deepak was so funny when I met him that I genuinely thought he might drop out to become a comedian. Lucky for me (and for Tabs), he wasn't quite that funny. Fast forward 10+ years, Deepak and I got to sit down this month with the Startup Cornell Podcast on Spotify and talk about our journey from campus, through a ton of learnings in our 20s, to ultimately founding Tabs together in our 30s. Deepak had the makings of a founder from the beginning, studying classical computer science and standing out as one of the most talented engineers around. I, on the other hand, studied humanities, took a shot at academia, and through a ton of luck, ended up convincing Deepak to build with me several years after graduation. For anyone contemplating entrepreneurship, I hope you'll listen to one of my favorite podcasts I've done this year. The TLDR: there is no straight path to becoming a founder. Often, the best place to start is one that's already accessible on the path you're already walking. Special thanks to many others Cornell classmates who shaped our journey during our time in Ithaca. Thirteen years in this league will teach you where you really sit in the business, and through all of it, one thing never changed. The franchises kept getting more valuable no matter who won on Sunday. So somewhere along the way I stopped only studying defenses and started studying the other side of the table. How ownership groups actually get put together, and who gets invited into those rooms and why. I've looked closely at groups in other sports already, and when a reporter asked me about it, I gave the honest answer, which is why not the NFL. And that goes way past sports. Most people spend a whole career inside a business somebody else owns and never once study how it makes its money. I did that for years too. People smile when a player says he wants in those rooms, and I get it. But I grew up being told exactly what was too big for me to ask for, and I'm still asking. If you've helped build an ownership group, in any sport or any industry, my inbox is open. I'm doing this homework for real.

The hyperscalers are deep into an investment cycle so they are consuming their operating cash flow. It is incorrect to look at this and assume their FCF has collapsed because operating cash flow has collapsed. It hasn't. Capex has exploded. This cycle should be eerily reminiscent of Amazon's approach over the past 20 years when they did the same thing related to e-commerce and AWS buildout. The question should be what moat did Amazon create at the end of that cycle and what kind of moat could the hyperscalers build now related to AI after this cycle?
