"I keep bringing this to my VP of Sales and it just doesn't land." "I feel like I'm talking to a wall." Smart leaders. Self-aware leaders. Saying the same thing, sometimes the same way, sometimes in different ways. Losing their minds. When they vent to me, I think about a global sales call I finished years ago. My CRO was pleased. I was incredulous. We'd been repeating the same message for months. I pulled him aside. "Why aren't you frustrated?" He chuckled. "AFK, the moment you start to become frustrated at repeating yourself is the first moment they hear you and start to listen." I've never forgotten it. My parents taught me the other piece: if you deliver your message badly, you still lose. Know your audience. Change the tone, change the style of message, change who's delivering the message. Consider the motivation. Speak in the language of the person sitting across from you. Understand their intent, their incentives, their drive, and communicate in a way that will profoundly resonate with them. Repeating yourself is not enough. Being right is not enough. Being heard is not just the job. It's your job.

Early mornings. Long cases. But most of all— creating impact. One year in as a part of the ROSA team, and what a journey it’s been. Grateful for the opportunity to support patients with epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, brain tumors, and many other complex neurological conditions through procedures such as Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), Responsive Neurostimulation (RNS), Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT), and Stereo-EEG (SEEG) diagnostics. Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of learning from and working alongside some of the top neurosurgeons and clinical teams across the East Coast— from Massachusetts General Hospital, to Cleveland Clinic, to Yale University, to Johns Hopkins Hospital, to the University of Miami, and of course the most incredible local teams at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University, who have taught me so much along the way. Thomas Stanley shared thisI am deeply honored to have been appointed to the Board of Trustees at my alma mater North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University—the largest #HBCU in the country. My decades-long relationship with NC A&T began when I enrolled at the University as a first-year student at age 17. I had made the decision to pursue computer science and NC A&T had a tremendous reputation for academic excellence in #STEM. As an NC A&T Board Trustee, I look forward to working closely with university leadership, students, alumni, and the community to continue to elevate the University’s preeminence in student success, research, service, athletics, and philanthropy. I recently watched “Our Blues Make Us Gold”, a comprehensive documentary on the students, alumni, and legendary culture of NC A&T. It further ignited my Aggie Pride and my passion to protect and extend the historic legacy of one of the finest academic institutions in the country! Thank you to my family, friends, and colleagues who have remained on this journey with me to invest in the lives of others. Thomas Stanley posted thisAfter a short break to recharge, spend quality time with my family, and focus on my board and philanthropic endeavors, I’m excited to share I have joined the distinguished group of Value Accelerator Advisors at Goldman Sachs (GS) Asset Management. The Value Accelerator is a centralized platform that provides GS portfolio companies with access to Goldman Sachs’ expansive global network, differentiated resources and programs, and highly distinguished advisors. GS Value Accelerator advisors are tenured executives who bring operating expertise and practitioner insights to help GS portfolio companies scale their businesses faster and more efficiently. In my new role, I will advise executive leadership teams at GS portfolio companies on scaling growth and revenue, as well as partner with GS deal teams to evaluate new portfolio investment opportunities. I’m looking forward to doing more of what I have always loved most in my career – coaching and developing leaders and leveraging my experience and expertise to help them accelerate their business success. After 101 quarters of driving revenue and delivering that 13-week forecast, then taking a rejuvenating break, I'm ready to go! #GSValueAccelerator #GSValueAcceleratorAdvisors
