I've never asked for help in my adult life, but here we are... - I'm 8 months behind on my mortgage as the sole provider for a family of 5 with a newborn girl. - Credit cards are maxed as of last week. - Yes, AI was involved. For a year I pretended AI wouldn't affect me, but then the jobs vanished overnight. Between 70-90% of content jobs have been eliminated. And now I find myself a carriage operator at the dawn of the automobile. It's been over half a year since I've made regular income. Past 3 months have completely dry, all while having a newborn and increased expenses. But before you think of this as a pity post... Know that I am firmly in the hands the Almighty and Living God. He's never let me down before and He never will. We're praising Jesus continually, even in the drought. And it's not all gray, anyway – I'm in the final round of interviews at a widely-known wearables unicorn. (Prayers, please!) But at this point I know we can't get by without a little help, even with securing a new role. If you know of any content jobs that want experienced editorial leaders, a referral would be amazing. I've worked with great companies including Oura Ring, Fitbit, and dozens of Health and Wellness publications. But my real ask today is for financial support. (I'm not ashamed to ask because I have a family depending on me and because I've worked relentlessly to secure employment. Also, everyone needs help sometimes.)
