Yann LeCun just raised $1.03B. Not for LLMs. For what comes after them. My first thought wasn't "wow." It was: how many founders are about to miss this? Most of us are sprinting to build on top of GPT or Claude architecture. LeCun just bet a billion dollars that architecture is wrong. World models don't predict text. They understand causality. Physics. How things actually work. Not just the next token. It has happened to me over and over again. Every time I got comfortable with the current stack, the stack moved. This is the stack moving again. The founders who win the next decade are already asking different questions. Not "how do I build faster on this?" "What comes after this?" $1.03B says the AI era isn't settled. It's barely started.

BREAKING: fal is reportedly raising again at around an $8B valuation 🤯 This may be one of the craziest infrastructure stories in AI right now. Reports say fal is in talks to raise at roughly $8 billion, just months after its $140M Series D at a $4.5B valuation in December 2025. Before that, it raised a $125M Series C at $1.5B in July 2025. The wild part is not just the fundraising pace. It is the revenue curve. This is a company that went from being early in generative media infrastructure to becoming one of the core backends behind AI-generated image, video, and audio workflows. fal says it provides developers API access to 600+ image, video, and audio models through its serverless GPU infrastructure, and its Series D announcement says it is focused on scaling real-time generative media. That is the bigger lesson: A lot of people are obsessed with who owns the best model. But one of the most valuable layers may be the one that runs the models faster, cheaper, and at massive scale. To be fair, the transformer architecture is great at predicting text and the big breakthrough was on the volume of data we can use to train this network compared to other architectures like RNNs But I do have to say that we are currently on a stage where the law of diminishing returns is more than obvious, we need more computational power to get marginally better results which in my opinion, reflects the fact that we need a better architecture.
