About us

The Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) advances the practice, leadership, and future of structural engineering. The largest technical institute within the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), SEI is a professional community of more than 30,000 structural engineers and allied professionals in the United States and across the world. SEI connects members to one another and to the issues shaping the structural engineering profession across all structure types and career stages. This work is supported through national committees, local and graduate student chapters, national conferences such as Structures Congress and the Overhead Power Line Structures Conference (OPS), and profession-defining programs such as SE 2050 and CROSS-US. SEI brings together practitioners, researchers, educators, students, and industry partners to: -Develop and influence codes, standards, and professional guidance -Share trusted technical publications, journals, and research -Connect practice and academia to accelerate real‑world application -Provide continuing education, conferences, and professional development -Foster leadership, collaboration, and informed participation across the profession Follow SEI for curated insights, credible resources, and opportunities that support structural engineers at every stage of their careers.
