Last week, India's Ministry of Heavy Industries asked every OEM and component maker in the country — via @SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) and @ACMA — to audit the software and devices controlling their connected vehicles, and to start building cybersecurity and software update management systems now. In parallel, draft rules based on AIS 189 will make CSMS and SUMS mandatory, beginning with highly automated vehicles from October 2026. The timing is no coincidence. Weeks earlier, one of the world's largest two- and three-wheeler manufacturers disclosed a ransomware attack on its IT systems. Having lived through the UNECE R.155 journey in Europe since 2021, I can say this with confidence: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁. The hard part is what the Indian advisory correctly demands — building security into the manufacturer's own processes. 𝗔 𝗖𝗦𝗠𝗦 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲. Security only works when it runs through the same processes that engineer, produce, update and service the vehicle. And it never ends at SOP. These are 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, sustained for fifteen-plus years per vehicle: ▪️ Secure OTA updates ▪️ Software integrity validation ▪️ Continuous vulnerability management — backed by a VSOC and real threat intelligence One of the world's largest vehicle markets just acknowledged that connected mobility is a public safety issue. That is real progress. Now comes the engineering. 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆. It always has. #AutomotiveCybersecurity #CSMS #AIS189 #SoftwareDefinedVehicles #UNECE

On 16 June, at the France Quantum conference, ANSSI's chief of staff Samih Souissi confirmed the agency will stop certifying security products without post-quantum cryptography from 2027, and that businesses should be buying only quantum-safe products by 2030. Souissi was direct about why: "It's not only a technical issue. It's a matter of governance, industrial planning, regulation, and sovereignty." Three things vendors and buyers should sit with: ➡️ The runway is shorter than the dates suggest. ANSSI qualification typically takes 12 to 18 months. A product entering the pipeline now is already racing the 2027 cutoff. Existing certifications stay valid until they expire, but renewal depends on post-quantum conformity. ➡️ The requirement is hybrid, not replacement. ANSSI asks for a proven legacy and post-quantum algorithms composed together, for key establishment and for signatures. For example, a product shipping ML-DSA alone does not meet the bar. That means revisiting product architecture and key management. ➡️ France is aligned with the world's direction. The US NSA's CNSA 2.0 makes post-quantum support a procurement requirement for new national security systems from the same year, 2027. Two of the most demanding certification regimes, the same cutoff, the same effect on vendors. ANSSI places the first step on inventory and crypto-agility, and puts it under governance. The reason is practical: you cannot certify, prioritize, or migrate cryptography you cannot see. The hardest part of meeting 2027 is rarely the algorithm. It is knowing where cryptography lives and being able to change it without rebuilding everything around it. That is the work we do, and the reason EVERTRUST already holds ANSSI CSPN certification and already issues the hybrid certificates this regime requires.
