Duapa Werkspace is a skills development and entrepreneurship hub located in the western region of Ghana. Our sole aim is to help in reducing youth unemployment through various capacity-building programs that empower the youth to gain employable and entrepreneurial skills. At Duapa Werkspace, we create an enabling environment for both potential and young entrepreneurs to connect, collaborate and transform their ideas into viable businesses. As a means of supporting startups, we provide an affordable and creative co-working and event space, training, and business development support services.

Before university, she chose to learn a practical skill first, a path that led her through millinery into footwear and shoemaking at duapa werkspace. It hasn't always been easy: pattern making is still a daily challenge, and as a woman in a male-dominated field, she's had to push past stereotypes to prove she belongs. Theme: Innovating for Sustainable Tomorrow, From Research to Market. One truth stood out through every pitch: the world cannot do without innovation. But the real gap is not in generating ideas, it is in the journey from research to market. That is where most innovations stall. As judges, we kept asking two questions of every team: What is the value of your innovation? What problem is it actually solving? My advice to the young innovators in the room was simple: Passion alone cannot sustain a business. It has to be built on value that serves people, respects the planet, and can actually generate revenue. Grateful to UMaT for the invitation, and inspired by the calibre of thinking coming out of this next generation.
