Max Westwood liked thisBig thank-you to Diggit Archaeology for providing the mighty Worcester Sorcerers football team with a kit to play in at this years Winckelmann Cup in Freiburg, Germany. Founded in 1991, and played in a different European city each year, the tournament is exclusively for teams made up of archaeologists from university departments and field units across Europe. This year, the team founded by past and present archaeologists from Worcestershire Archaeology put up a fight over two days of football in 36 degree heat. The best bit was watching the game on Saturday night alongside a friendly Norwegian team 😁 Forever the mid-table warriors, we now look ahead to Hungary 2027 and finding more sponsorship to allow us to continue to represent the city of Worcester with honour across the continent. There is real value in getting this community around one table without slides or formal presentations. The challenges facing MAT finance leaders right now are significant and having a space to discuss them frankly, away from the usual conference format, leads to much richer conversation. I certainly learnt a lot personally! Thank you to everyone who joined us and shared so openly. And a special thank you to Peter Wilson and Caroline Symonds FCMA CGMA for chairing the discussions with such skill and insight. Also thank you to Sarah Hughes for offering your sector specialist knowledge to the evening. We all agreed we need a follow up event after the summer!
