  • Today, Hanwha Philly Shipyard proudly celebrated another major milestone with the christening of the Lone Star State, the latest National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV). The ceremony brought together leaders from across government, industry, and maritime education, including Hanwha Philly Shipyard CEO David Kim, TOTE Services President Jeff Dixon, ship sponsor Rachel Campos-Duffy, Col. Michael Fossum of Texas A&M Maritime Academy, Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought, and U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy. During the ceremony, Director Vought announced that Hanwha Philly Shipyard and TOTE Services have been selected to deliver the Missile Defense Agency's new Missile Range Instrumentation Vessels (MRIV). Built in Philadelphia, these next-generation vessels will support the nation's missile defense capabilities while building on the proven success of the NSMV program. Following remarks from Secretary Duffy, Mrs. Rachel Campos-Duffy officially christened the Lone Star State by carrying out the traditional bottle-breaking ceremony. Today's milestones reflect the continued success of the NSMV program and the momentum it has created. As the Lone Star State prepares to support maritime training, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, and other national service missions, the newly announced MRIV program builds on that same proven production line, skilled workforce, and public-private partnership to further strengthen America's maritime and defense capabilities. We are grateful to our government, industry, and maritime education partners for their continued collaboration as we deliver vessels that serve our nation today while helping shape the future of American shipbuilding. #HanwhaPhillyShipyard #HPSI #Shipbuilding #MaritimeLeadership

  • For years, Hanwha Philly Shipyard and The Skills Initiative have worked side by side to create pathways for Philadelphians to build rewarding careers in shipbuilding. Together, we're not just filling jobs—we're investing in people and building the skilled workforce that will support the future of the American maritime industry. That's why yesterday's announcement that JPMorganChase is investing in the Philadelphia Navy Yard, including $2 million in expanded support for The Skills Initiative, is such an exciting milestone for our region. That investment will help expand the type of workforce development that's already making a difference through programs like The Skills Initiative's Welder B Program, which is funded by the City of Philadelphia and prepares participants for careers at Hanwha Philly Shipyard. And we're excited to continue that momentum with a new Welder Training Program beginning August 31. Designed jointly by Hanwha Philly Shipyard and The Skills Initiative, the 14-week program combines professional development, classroom instruction, and hands-on welding training to prepare Philadelphia residents for full-time careers at the Shipyard, with applications open through Friday, July 24. We were also honored to welcome JPMorganChase Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon to Hanwha Philly Shipyard yesterday, where he toured our Training Academy and learned more about our workforce development efforts and our commitment to preparing the next generation of skilled shipbuilders. The Skills Initiative has been an outstanding partner in helping connect Philadelphians with life-changing career opportunities while strengthening the workforce our industry depends on. We're grateful for their partnership and look forward to continuing this work together to create even more opportunities for Philadelphia residents and strengthen the future of American shipbuilding. #HanwhaPhillyShipyard #HPSI #SkillsInitiative #JPMorganChase #NavyYard

As National Safety Month comes to a close, one thing has been clear: safety is not the responsibility of one person or one team. It is a commitment shared by everyone across Hanwha Philly Shipyard. Throughout June, our HSE team shared what safety means to them. A few common themes continued to surface: take ownership, stay aware of your surroundings, ask questions, speak up when something doesn't feel right, and never become complacent. These photos capture more than confined space work. They represent the planning, communication, and trust that happen before the job begins and throughout every step of the work. The safest jobs are not the ones without risk. They are the ones where people work together to recognize those risks and manage them safely. As one member of our team shared, "Safety is not about slowing the job down. It's about making sure everyone gets to go home and live the life they're working so hard for." Thank you to our HSE team and every employee who contributes to building a culture where safety is part of how we work every day. While National Safety Month may be ending, our commitment to each other continues all year long 👷 #NationalSafetyMonth #SafetyCulture #HanwhaPhillyShipyard #Shipbuilding #WorkplaceSafety #HSE

  • On Sunday, Hanwha Philly Shipyard welcomed employees and their families aboard National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV) IV - Lone Star State for a special tour ahead of the vessel's delivery. Guests had the opportunity to explore key areas of the ship and see firsthand the craftsmanship, teamwork, and dedication that brought the vessel to life. For many employees, it was a chance to share the results of their hard work with the people who support them every day. Thank you to everyone who attended and to the volunteers, tour guides, and staff who helped make the event a success. As we prepare to deliver NSMV IV, we're proud to celebrate the people behind this incredible achievement. #HanwhaPhillyShipyard #NSMV #LoneStarState #Shipbuilding
