David Yadegar reposted thisDavid Yadegar reposted thisRecovery doesn't stop between appointments or after discharge — and support shouldn't either. Studies show that patients who stay engaged with their plan outside of visits recover significantly faster and are far less likely to experience setbacks. And yet, research also shows that less than half of patients in traditional physical therapy reliably keep up with their home exercise program. For the last 5 years, we've been perfecting how we help patients solve this problem. We've taken everything we've learned from hundreds of thousands of visits to build the premier program to help patients get better, faster. Introducing Origin On-Track: the comprehensive support system that keeps patients’ recovery moving between every visit and after discharge: live group classes, on-demand programs, an evidence-based resource library, symptom journaling, AI chat, and more — all in one place. Because recovery doesn't stop when the visit ends. 🔗 in comments to learn more!

David Yadegar reposted thisDavid Yadegar reposted thisPelvic health has been treated as a nice-to-have for too long — and the cost of that neglect shows up in every part of a woman's life. We're joining forces with leading global fertility and family care platform Carrot to make pelvic floor physical therapy accessible to members across the country. Together, we're bringing a long-overlooked area of care into the mainstream of employer benefits, where it belongs. 85% of Carrot members report symptoms related to pelvic floor health, and soon their benefits can cover treatment. Through this partnership, Carrot members can access Origin's virtual and in-person pelvic floor physical therapy and proprietary digital programs, covering the full spectrum of pelvic health needs: from fertility and postpartum recovery to bladder leaks, pelvic pain, and menopause support. Coming June 3, 2026. Check your benefits: if your employer offers Carrot, pelvic floor therapy coverage is coming soon!

David Yadegar reposted thisSix years, 20 clinics, virtual in 50 states, and so much still ahead. To our patients who trusted us, our clinicians who show up every day, and everyone cheering us on — thank you! 🧡David Yadegar reposted thisToday is Origin's 6th birthday! 🎂 Six years ago, Nona Farahnik Yadegar, David Yadegar, and I launched Origin in the middle of a pandemic, not knowing what the next month would hold. We saw something missing in the healthcare system: highly specialized care that women desperately needed but couldn't easily access. We set out to change that. Last week, we opened our 20th clinic. Over 10,000 providers have now referred their patients to Origin. We support women virtually in all 50 states. 96% of our patients use insurance, paying on average just $36 out of pocket (compared to $200–$300 at the cash rate). And pelvic health is finally part of mainstream conversations. I'm so proud of what we've built and grateful for everyone who's supported us along the way. None of this happened without our incredible team, who grew from a handful of clinicians to a powerful national network of pelvic and women's health experts. Without providers who trusted us to care for their patients. Without the patients who got better and told a friend. And without our investors who shared our vision from day one. There is so much work still ahead. We believe pelvic floor and women's health PT should be the norm across the country. We're not stopping until it is! #pelvichealth #womenshealth #pelvicfloor #startup

David Yadegar reposted thisThe great "build v. buy" debate is about to shift big time. When we launched Origin back in 2020, 9 out of 10 times it did not make sense to build. We were a rapidly evolving startup and there were relatively cost effective, off-the-shelf tools that could get us quite far. Over the years, we've of course built several of these products ourselves as our needs became more specialized and we could gain efficiencies in house. But in the last 18 months, the pendulum has swung dramatically to BUILD. Why spend $20, $50 or $200 per employee per month on features we can build in hours or days? Plus, our AI products are build on our proprietary data set and for our workflows, customization that would be truly impossible with a third-party in a time frame that would make any sense. Super bullish on the future of "full stack," likely with the exception of core EHR / billing features. Shout out to our amazing CTO Nick Kavassalis for making this possible at Origin. Thanks to Halle Tecco, MPH, MBA for sharing these use cases! PS - no AI was used in this post, I'm just pumped 😂David Yadegar reposted thisIn “Services: The New Software,” Julien Bek of Sequoia argues that the next wave of AI winners will come from companies that sell outcomes rather than tools. In other words, the value is shifting away from selling software and toward delivering the service itself. In that sense, healthcare is already there. The industry has always been built around companies that provide care, with third-party software increasingly layered throughout. Many of those tools have been valuable, but they are starting to look interchangeable, whether because incumbents (ahem, Epic) replicate and underprice key features, or because it’s becoming increasingly easy to build them in-house. That shift puts healthcare services startups in a strong position. They have something pure software plays do not: a full stack. They own the care model, the patient relationship, the clinical data, and the operations. When AI is embedded across that stack, it strengthens the core service and reinforces a competitive advantage. I wanted to share eight tangible examples of healthcare services companies putting AI to work in ways that already move the needle, including cases from: Honor Ro Akido Labs Everlywell Origin Cityblock Health Aledade, Inc. Virta Health Thank you to these founders for sharing your insights. Check it out today on my (entirely free) Substack. Link in comments.

David Yadegar reposted this📣 To all my friends in the East Bay, Origin is officially open in Berkeley! Elated to be expanding in the Bay Area and under the leadership of the exceptional Natalie Russell, PT, DPT, OCS. PS - we're hiring!David Yadegar reposted thisClinic #20 is now open in Berkeley, CA. 🎉 We couldn’t think of a better way to kick off our sixth birthday celebrations this month! Six years ago, pelvic health symptoms were still considered niche. Today, pelvic health is part of mainstream wellness conversations, and over 10,000 providers have referred their patients to Origin. The Bay Area community is proof of that momentum — 1% of SF’s population has already come through our doors, making our expansion to the East Bay a natural next step. Leading our Berkeley clinic is Dr. Natalie Russell, PT, DPT, OCS, who spent years on our SF team as physical therapist and Clinical Director. We're thrilled to have her build Origin's footprint in the East Bay. As always, in-person isn't the only option. Virtual and hybrid care are available so patients can get the support they need, wherever they are. Here's to six years of patients getting the care they deserve — and to everyone still on their way to us.

David Yadegar reposted thisDavid Yadegar reposted thisJust pinning this here for all the folks who told me pelvic floor therapy is "niche." Especially the investors who shared comments like, "Well my wife doesn't know about it, so..." womenshealthmag just put it on the cover. But this isn't about a victory lap. It's about how we advance real change in healthcare. In women's health, hidden markets are everywhere. The absence of a current TAM isn't proof that demand doesn't exist -- it's often a signal of structural barriers: education, access, cost, stigma. Remove those barriers, and the floodgates open. Pelvic floor health didn't suddenly become important. It was always important. What changed is that people finally started building the infrastructure to make it accessible — and talkable. (Shout out to our amazing team Origin who have been chipping away at education, access, cost, and stigma.) If you're investing in or building in women's health, look for the gaps where need is high but awareness is low. That's not a small market. That's an untapped one. #FemTech #WomensHealth #PelvicFloor #TAM s/o Currie Engel

We tell a clean story about invention: the lone genius, the dramatic breakthrough, the thing that changes everything overnight. But some of the most consequential ideas in American history were just... simple. Unglamorous. Easy to dismiss. I spent nearly a decade dealing with painful sex. I saw doctor after doctor. I was misdiagnosed, undertreated, and told that this was just the way it was. The solution, when I finally found it, wasn't a drug or a surgery or a device. It was a physical therapist who knew how to work with my pelvic floor. A few months of noninvasive treatment ended years of suffering. It was so simple it almost felt unfair. I was reminded of that feeling when I read a The Wall Street Journal story about a metallurgist named John Dorr, who spent years in the 1950s trying to convince highway officials to paint a white line on the side of the road. That's it. A line. Officials told him it wasn't necessary. Ohio said it wouldn't yield "sufficient value." The national roads agency warned against it. A controlled study later showed a 37% reduction in fatalities. All for $50 a mile. "Paint is cheaper than blood." We have a systematic problem with simple solutions. Our incentives - in funding, in policy, in reimbursement - are wired to reward complexity. The new drug. The surgical device. The breakthrough technology. Healthcare is where this failure is most costly. Pelvic floor physical therapy is noninvasive. It's first-line. It resolves conditions that have sent women to surgery, to devices, to a lifetime of medication. Our outcomes data shows 87% reduction in chronic pelvic pain. Most patients pay under $36 a visit. And yet the system consistently steers toward the more expensive answer...not because it works better, but because that's where the reimbursement flows. That's what gets funded. That's what gets built. Simple solutions require a different kind of advocate. Someone stubborn enough to keep sending the memo nobody asked for. Someone who believes that if you can just get the data in front of the right people, the line will eventually get painted. Dorr died in 1962. That morning, he stepped outside and saw a Connecticut highway truck painting a line down the road in front of his house. He didn't live to see it everywhere. But it got there.

It’s a massive advantage having talented, mission-driven team members who care deeply about our patients, our communities, and one another. We are fortunate that Newsweek recognized our team members and named us as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces in Health Care 2026. This recognition reflects what so many here already know. Cone Health is a special place to work and make a difference. We have team members who have dedicated more than 40 years to this organization, and one celebrating 55 years this year! I am grateful to be part of this team and excited about what we will continue to build together.

David Yadegar liked thisDavid Yadegar liked thisShow versus Tell. For a long time, I've been doing a lot of telling. Shouting from the rooftops about the power of pelvic floor therapy. But for many people, it's hard to understand what this actually looks like, especially when you add "virtual" to the mix. If you don't know what your pelvic floor is and you haven't done much PT, "virtual pelvic floor therapy" is a string of words that can make your head spin. So yesterday I got to SHOW and TELL. My amazing colleague Sarah Clampett and I joined Jacqueline Buckingham and her team MENO. Jacqueline didn't just hear about pelvic floor therapy, she experienced it firsthand. One thing you'll notice: no nudity. Because pelvic floor therapy isn't just internal. It's about connecting to all the muscles in your pelvis and everything around it - hips, glutes, core - to build real stability, strength, coordination, and range. Can't wait to share the full episode later this summer! And a big thank you to Jacqueline Buckingham for your pioneering work. cc Origin

We searched extensively for a market-wide view of the sector and, when we couldn't find one that captured the full picture, we built it ourselves. The result is a deep dive into the companies, founders, technologies, and care models redefining how #fertility is understood, diagnosed, managed, and supported globally. The Fertility ecosystem is evolving at extraordinary speed. If we've missed a company that deserves recognition, please let us know. We want this to be a living resource for founders, operators, investors, researchers, clinicians, and everyone shaping the future of reproductive health. The #Fertility Health Market Map highlights one of the most dynamic sectors in healthcare today. We analyzed companies across #fertility care, #reproductive diagnostics, therapeutics, digital health, #IVF technologies, hormone monitoring, and preventive reproductive care to better understand where innovation is accelerating and where opportunities remain. Several themes emerged: 🔹 Fertility is rapidly moving beyond clinics and into everyday healthcare through connected diagnostics, wearables, telehealth, and personalized care platforms. 🔹 Women's health founders continue to challenge traditional healthcare models by building solutions that are more accessible, data-driven, and patient-centric. 🔹 Investors are increasingly recognizing fertility as a long-term healthcare category rather than a niche market, creating significant opportunities across prevention, treatment, and family-building journeys. Most importantly, this market map showcases the founders, clinicians, scientists, and innovators building the infrastructure for the next generation of reproductive healthcare. This isn't simply a market landscape, It's a blueprint for where #fertility health is headed, where capital is flowing, where unmet needs remain, and which companies are defining the future of family building and reproductive wellness. David Yadegar liked thisDavid Yadegar liked thisIn this week's Did You Know? 👇 A friend texted me last month, frustrated. She'd gone in for her annual well-woman visit with a list of questions — a persistent headache, new joint pain, fatigue. She got through two before her doctor said: "We'll need to schedule a separate visit for those." She left with a bill, no answers, and a follow-up four months out. Here's what most women don't know: under the ACA, preventive visits are 100% covered — but the moment the conversation shifts from "preventive" to "diagnostic," free becomes billable. And women's health rarely fits the checklist. So women learn to hold back. That's exactly what we built Visana Health to fix. Read the full story below, and if this has happened to you, I want to hear it. #WomensHealth #DidYouKnow #VisanaHealthDid You Know? #7 — Your "Free" Annual Visit Can Turn Into a Bill. This week Tulip Interfaces became Acequia Capital's 23rd unicorn company. When we made the first investment into Tulip in 2015, it was clear to Hank and I that we were early. It was going to take some time, but that massive legacy industries had no idea the amount of innovation and value was out there, waiting to be won by companies that could master software and machine intelligence. These observations and others led us to develop two investment theses we’ve been executing on since; what we termed “New Industrials.” Fast forward 10 years and the idea that a broader industrial reinvention is underway is now almost a given across the capital markets and leading companies. A movement has sprung up around us. It’s much more in vogue to back physical technology startups now, but most investors misunderstand what great ones look like, and how numerous the barriers to adoption are. We’re fortunate to benefit from a decade of lessons and insights from watching up close as incredible founding teams have built immensely valuable organizations, these include Stoke Space, Radiant, Formlabs, Atomic Industries, Applied Atomics, Harbinger, Dirac, Inc., Rainmaker Technology Corporation, AnySignal, EthonAI, Flow Engineering, Milvus Advanced, Rivelin Robotics, Adaptyv, KMB Telematics Inc., Tactian, Nimble Precision, sensmore, Hyperdrives, Ethos Space Resources, Antaris, TransAstra, Rightbot Technologies, Provectus Algae, Arctoris, Flexe, Coronal Technologies, Exapto, Visolis, Vorticity Inc., XENOPS AI, and many others. My takeaway from 10 years of investing in industrial reinvention is that we are still at the beginning. We have a long way to go and the next 10 years will move a lot faster than the last. Thanks to our founders for the continued trust and partnership.

At Brightstar Capital Partners, we believe success begins with strong relationships built on trust, alignment, and a shared vision to help great businesses grow. While capital is essential, we focus on building long-term partnerships built through hands-on experience and a commitment to lasting value. Our investment evaluation process is grounded in sectors we know deeply. We focus on cash-flowing businesses where we see an opportunity to optimize operations and foster ownership culture, helping to grow the company better than it could on its own. Ultimately, we judge success by a simple question. Five or 10 years after we exit, if someone calls a founder or partner we’ve worked with and asks, “Should I work with Brightstar?” I want the answer to be yes. That is our definition of real value creation.
