Go on offense.
I’m a huge fan of the movie Miracle, and this weekend I watched the Netflix documentary Miracle: The Boys of ’80. 🏒 🇺🇸
The story of the 1980 gold medal–winning U.S. hockey team never gets old. Knowing what came before that gold medal moment makes it even sweeter.
For decades, the U.S. hockey team was playing on its back skate.
Years of underperformance against entrenched, dominant international teams had conditioned Team USA to "play not to lose" instead of to "play to win."
Coach Herb Brooks changed that. He engineered Team USA to go on offense... to skate harder, think faster, pass cleaner, shoot smarter, and play for each other (and for their fans) as one cohesive team in a new, modern system.
In today's world of accounting, firms aren’t staring down a Soviet Olympic hockey team but many face similarly entrenched challenges: siloed portals, old data, and disjointed workflows driven by legacy software built for another era.
And those long-standing challenges are now being compounded by new ones: modern ownership decisions (PE vs. independent), even more talent pressure, and (of course) AI.
All that, and client demands are only growing.
It’s easy to see why many firm leaders may feel stuck on their back skate, too... reacting, instead of dictating the pace.
At
Aiwyn, we’re taking a page from Coach Brooks’ playbook and helping firms go on offense. Here’s what that means:
-- Give firm leaders leverage and insight through strong technology and good data, turning uncertainty into momentum on the issues that matter most today.
-- Help partners and staff move fast together with solutions that make the dream of "one firm, one team" (internally, and with clients) a practical reality.
-- Get technology out of the way so great professionals have the time, tools, and brain space to really focus on their clients' needs and challenges.
-- Continue co-building with our customers, working shoulder-to-shoulder and staying responsive to the needs/ideas of our 800+ firm customer community.
Olympic-level performance doesn’t come from grinding harder inside outdated systems. It comes from alignment, trust, speed, and from teammates who have each other’s backs.
Team USA won gold in 1980 because they were nimble, united, and willing to embrace new ways of working together.
That’s the standard we’re chasing — for leaders, partners, and staff of top firms, and for the clients they serve.
It’s time to go on offense. 🏒
