I'm excited to announce that I'll be joining The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) as Product Manager Associate Director for Digital Assets, working alongside Yalini Isweran, Tom Pikett, Matthew Ducie, Joseph Spiro, and Nadine Chakar to advance collateral mobility initiatives and drive the adoption of tokenized assets. On July 15th, DTCC reached a significant milestone, launching the industry's largest tokenization production initiative, spanning an unprecedented breadth of use cases, asset classes, and participants. I look forward to building out further use cases and working with external partners to bring innovative solutions to the market. Thank you to everyone who has helped me along this journey. Catherine Gu reacted on thisCatherine Gu reacted on thisYesterday we launched our first Digital Asset FS Edge Edition: a component of a new video series where I sit down with digital asset executives across the ecosystem to unpack what's really driving adoption and what's still standing in the way. First up: Ryan Rugg, who leads Global Digital Assets within TTS at Citi. We dug into how Citi Token Services came to be starting not with a piece of technology, but with a client survey that surfaced a clear need: 24/7, 365, multi-bank liquidity. That client-first lens shaped everything that followed, from where they launched (US, UK, Dublin, Hong Kong, Singapore) to how they scaled into 24/7 USD clearing with 300+ correspondent banks. A few things that stuck with me from our conversation: → Interoperability isn't just blockchain-to-blockchain. It's cash and assets, traditional and non-traditional finance, network and network all of it has to work together. → "Cash on ledger" is the real unlock. Without it, you can't get to atomic settlement you're just building shadow ledgers back to traditional rails. → This is an evolution, not a revolution. Banks aren't ripping out ACH and check-writing overnight new rails will sit alongside old ones for a long time. → Scaling this isn't a single-business problem. Compliance, risk, legal, and audit all have to move together, or you end up re-educating stakeholders after the fact and restarting your rollout. Ryan put it well: the industry's north star hasn't changed in a decade, multi-asset, multi-currency, multi-network, always-on. We're just finally building the plumbing to get there.
